I love Arthur, and the sequel too. lol Been a Dudley Moore fan all of my life, lol.

Which is why I do not approve of this new remake starring Russell Brand. confused

It was just on TCM as part of their 31 Days of Oscar programming. I'd forgotten what a great - and hilarious - movie it is. John Gielgud? In a comedy? Get outta here!

And I must've watched it a lot after it came out. (It was probably on HBO back in the day when they programmed...like...three movies a month and showed them over and over. lol ) I was able to recite damn near the whole thing. eek

One of my most beloved movies. It's pretty much perfect, imo.

I refuse to see that utterly pointless Russel Brand remake piece of shit. I hope it tanks in a major way at the box office.

Ah, what a great movie. Dudley, Liza, and Sir John knocked it out of the park. There are several exchanges that just slay me. I even like the theme song.

I watch that movie just because of Sir John Gielgud's performance, he stoled the picture. cool

I hate everything Christopher Cross has ever done - but Burt Bacharach saved that song. nod

Dudley Moore will always have a super special place in my heart. I saw Arthur more times than I saw Purple Rain, and I went to the theatre to see it that often.

This new remake makes me want to choke someone.

Oh, I have fond memories of the first time I saw this movie. I went on a bus trip to see the Broadway play "Dream Girls" starring Jennifer Holiday. It was one of those overnight deals where we stayed in a hotel overnight before returning home. This was way back in the day when hotels advertised "FREE MOVIES!" Anyway, Arthur was the featured movie. I didn't think I would like it because I generally don't like "slapstick" comedy, and I thought Dudley Moore was one of those types. I was so pleasantly surprised. I absolutely loved that movie!

I just finished watching this on Netflix. Since there was a part 2 and Arthur and Linda had a child, how come that new movie couldn't be Arthur, Jr?

Since Dudley Moore is gone, may he rest in peace. They could have focused it around the Linda character (Liza's still around and being fab) and their child (Russell Brand), who grew up to become a drunk like his Dad but a lot less lovable, (modern times and all) which causes Linda to decide that if he doesn't straighten himself out. She'll cut him off without a cent. They could have worked a humorous story from there.

Is there really just no freaking imagination left in Hollywood. Damn! pout

boy, i am getting OOOOOLLLLDDD!

i remember the tv ads with dudley moore's crazy laugh. but for some reason, i never went to see it. if it was rated 'r', i would have been too young, but my impression is that it probably wasn't. so why didn't i see it?!

i certainly heard that same chris cross song enough on the radio at the time. wink

okay, the org has talked me into it, i'll netflix it. (i'm not going to see the brand version though; should i wait until it too is on netflix?)

I saw this movie on a movie channel... last week, I think! It was a cute move. I loved Sir Arthur Gielgood(sp??)--the gentleman who played Arthur's butler. Liza M was good in it, too. I really love Liza M in Cabaret... a classic no doubt.

Another movie I liked with Dudley Moore is... Foul Play. I think it's a cute movie. To me Goldie Hawn looks a lot like Kate Hudson in that movie.. or maybe it's vice versa. I can see the resemblance big time.
