This is the first time in 17 years that I’ve had an official bf on valentine’s day. Not that I haven’t dated in all that time, it’s just always worked out that way.

I’m really not bothered over material things and I don’t think anyone should give gifts out of obligation. It would be nice if the day is acknowledged, that I can admit, but otherwise I’m cool with whatever.

I have to admit (and it's probably not surprising) that I'm pretty anti-Valentine's Day. It's a greeting card holidy with highly inflated prices and far too much societal pressure attached to boot. However, I totally understand what you're saying about it being acknowledged. If I'm with someone who feels that way I make sure to do something random that day (because that's really what you're doing). But I can't do the big money, high pressure, stressful gift giving, reservations, dressing up because it's Feb 14th and GAAAH! I think I'm a pretty romantic guy when I'm in a committed relationship, anyway. I make an effort to do the random stuff regularly.

Oh... but I'm cool with new lingerie being involved. That definitely makes it easier for me.
