Porn Past Derails Teacher's Career

March 10, 2011

A high school science teacher in St. Louis who admitted appearing in porn films before going into education is on administrative leave, school officials said.

Officials said Parkway North High School teacher Tera Myers, 38, was put on leave this week and will not return to her job, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Wednesday.

Myers requested the leave after a student approached her about her past, the district said.

Myers had previously been suspended from a Kentucky school district for similar reasons, the Post-Dispatch reported.

Myers was hired to teach at Parkway North after passing standard background and reference checks, the school district said. Because Myers' involvement in the porn industry did not break any laws, it wasn't found in the background checks, a Parkway spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said she was "almost positive" Parkway had contacted Myers' previous school and that the district was not told of the previous suspension or the reason behind it.

In 2006, Myers was suspended from a high school in Paducah, Ky., after a student obtained a copy of an X-rated film she appeared in and showed it to other students.

"Out of respect for her privacy and that of her family, the district has agreed to accept the teacher's request to be placed on administrative leave for the remainder of the school year," a Parkway statement said.

Myers will be paid through the end of the school year.

That's real ignorant. Firing someone who sucked dick in her past life yet they hire these "well-to-do" ladies who in turn molest the students they're supposed to provide higher education to.

Parents who allowed their kids to do that need help their damn self. If you have a family and have porn in your house, either lock it up somewhere so they won't get it or throw it out. lol

Yeah, it may be a shame that people won't let her move on with her life, but she was the one that chose the profession and I'm sure she was well aware of the stigma that comes along with being a porn storn. It first falls on her. And I don't blame the parents for not wanting her to teach their kids, truth be told, most of y'all wouldn't want her teaching your kids. The thing is, she picked the wrong profession to change her life, especially if she was gonna be teaching children.

That's what is so fucked up about it. Because not all folks who participated in porn are sleazy like that but it does create that stigma in people's heads. In this case, let's compare the teacher situation with the thing revealed about a "Real World" cast member. The teacher won't get a job because she sucked dick for camera and money but the same guy who sucked dick for camera and money (gay-for-pay) can be on a reality show and be given 15 minutes of fame. You can entertain on a sleazy reality show (and "The Real World" has been sleazy the last few seasons) but don't teach, it may become a bad influence on the kids. rolleyes Double standards seem to be something we thrive and survive on in this weird world.

Very true. Porn is the hardest gig to rebound from.

I pretty much assume that my kid's teachers have had sex in the past....so no I would not have a problem with someone with proper teaching credentials teaching him! It's not like she's a pedophile or a child murderer! In fact if my child was looking at porn...and had the nerve to take it to school, that would be a bigger issue for me. I hope I am teaching him to be a better person and not an uptight judgmental bastard that can't understand how to mind his own fucking business and allows other people to live their lives without bothering them about petty shit.

This lady is going to have to teach college sex ed with dildoes, I guess. At least that's acceptable, right?

But at what point is she allowed to move on and become part of mainstream society? She wants to make a change in her life and be a part of a productive environment that is life-affirming and constructive. The fact that one of her students approached her about her previous "work" and had access to it says more to me about their parents than it does the teacher in question. coffee

But that's just it. Life ain't fair. And it's even less fair for those that have chosen certain paths that make life tougher for them. Kids will be kids, so I can excuse the kid for finding porn, especially in this day and age of information at our fingertips. But this was a grown-ass woman that decided to fuck on camera and now wants society to all of a sudden change their ways just so she can teach. Sorry, she gets no sympathy from me. Don't fuck on camera in the first place and she wouldn't be having this issue.

Why end there? nod

We have people that criticize women in the adult entertainment industry, telling them they need to get out of that sleazy occupation and get real jobs that doesn't require them to pull their bodies in further abuse. And yet, we have these same people that are criticizing former adult entertainment employees for having a real job like being a teacher in a public or private school system. neutral

As if kids can NOT get access to porn behind their parents' backs already. Even if the parents are responsible enough to put safeblocks on the computers at home, their kids can still go by their friends' homes and get the porn off of their computers.

The sad thing is the same people that want the poor to "pull themselves up by their bootstraps" are the ones rallying against this mother who did what she had to do to get herself and her 2 children off of public assistance.

Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.
