Another film that, as was announced in an earlier post today, will premiere at theSouth By Southwest Film Festival next month is Victoria Mahoney’s Yelling To The Sky.

We profiled Yelling To The Sky on this blog November 2009, and have written about it a number of times since then; it stars Zoë Kravitz (daughter of Lenny Kravitz) as Sweetness O’Hara, the youngest of two mixed race sisters, who “spends the better part of being seventeen navigating an identity between the known (a violent life of crime), and the unknown (a life of purpose and meaning).”

Gabourey Sidibe co-stars, along with Tim Blake Nelson, Jason Clarke, Yolonda Ross, Shareeka Epps, and others.

The film is written and directed by Victoria Mahoney, pictured above (she’s on the far left) in one of several behind-the-scenes pics from the film shoot; I’m sure you can guess who the other 2 ladies are.

As already announced, the film will make its debut at the Berlin Film Festival later this month. It certainly has some oomph behind it, having been workshopped at theSundance Institute’s Screenwriters, Directors Labs, and annual Creative Producing Lab, and is a recipient of the Mark Silverman Maryland Film Fellowship, and the prestigious Annenberg Film Fellowship grant for director Mahoney.

Nice to see Gabourey Sidibe again.

I don't get it... this trailer makes it look like a ghetto-cliche, ultra-unskilled video... that's not interesting to me!

But it could just be a bad trailer full of cliches.
