yesterday they had a movie on called "Red: Werewolf Hunter"

The modern-day descendant of Little Red Riding Hood brings her fiancé home to meet her family and reveal the family business as werewolf hunters. After he is bitten by a werewolf, she must protect him from her own family.

neutral

why can't they play real [classic] Sci-Fi movies/shows -- a consolidate their budget so they can actually put out some new quality stuff (instead of all these lame, cheesy stupid little "movies") ?? confused

I didn't, really - COULDN'T even try those shows because that unnamed channel sucks so hard. It's an insult to something that I really love so I'd rather just pretend it doesn't exist.

Of course there are ghosts in Twilight..ghosts of old and amazing actors like Marlon Brando. They're crying throughout the whole movie because it's so bad lol

I watched the syfy version last night. (I didn't even know it was a bbc knockoff boxed )

I kinda liked it. We'll see if the writing is good enough to keep my interest.

I agree with you about the Aiden actor...not cute.

Neither is the werewolf actor.

They both look short and kinda wimpy.

The ghost even made a reference to Twilight during the episode! lol

Speaking of BBC knockoffs...has anyone seen Episodes with Matt LeBlanc? It's all about America ruining great BBC shows.

trust me folks, the twilight series is a lesser form of a currently popular theme that has been done to death by now.

if anyone wants to read a terrific vampire series, rich with intelligent, strong characters and cultural as well as historical details, check out this woman's work. a lot of people have copied her but none come close.

My favourite vampire book is Salem's Lot and Dracula. These new books like Twilight and Vampire Diary or whatever it's called have nothing to offer.

I'm always looking for a good book!

i was very frustrated with twilight, could NOT relate to bella. right about the time her character sat through her entire science class while blowing off the lesson and thinking of nothing but edward.... i disassociated from her on the spot. in my opinion, this is a terrible character to pass off on young adult women (it is one of my PET peeves, the continuation of outdated, harmfully stereotyped behaviors women learn to perceive as 'romantic').

the stereotype is already that women are bad at math and science. why encourage young readers to believe that this is okay?? anyhoo, ms. yarbro's character is not like that

The books of the Saint-Germain Cycle combine historic fiction, romance, and horror and feature the heroic vampire first introduced in Hôtel Transylvania as Le Comte de Saint-Germain. In this initial novel, the character -- cultured, well-traveled, articulate, elegant, and mysterious -- appears in the court of France's King Louis XV. In order to convince the naive but intelligent Madelaine de Montalia that she is in danger, Saint-Germain reveals he is thousands of years old and drinks the Elixir of Life, blood. He also introduces her to the sensual pleasures of his vampiric embrace.

Yarbro intentionally sought to get as far away as possible from the traditional vampire trope "and still have a recognizable vampire," to use the "vampire as a metaphor for humanism," and establish the vampire's erotic appeal as a shared, mutual intimacy. Yarbro was the first writer to revise the stereotype so completely and mesh it so fully with romance. She also filtered it through a feminist perspective that both the giving of sustenance and its taking were of equal erotic potency. Although romantic and historical fiction, Hôtel Transylvania and consequent novels also belong firmly within the canon of modern horror: the mortal inhabitants of the natural world are the forces of darkness and the supernatural "monster" is the defender of sanity and morality. As the author has noted, "history is horror."

^^ Yup - I love books with strong, intelligent female characters.

Off topic from vampires, but have you read the Kushiel's Legacy series

by Jacqueline Carey?

Amazing (IMO)!

It's kind of an alternate world, fantasy series

with a wonderful lead character, who is part courtesan and part spy/action hero.
