Inspired by another thread... ...and just because I like it...
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

This is one of my favorite Elaine scenes. One friend and I quote from it often. Sadly, I could not find an embeddable one, or one without subtitles.

I have actually used that line. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Before I post again in this thread, would you like it to be more about Elaine or more about dick sightings?
Both topics interest me, so I can go either way. I just want to make sure I'm doing what's right for the thread.

My dear, let fly in any direction you like.
But thank you for asking... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Did your inspiration have anything to do with this?

This always brings back such memories for me. Way back when (when I was just starting to work as a copywriter), I had a manager who would go absolutely nutty any time you used a "slammer" (as we call them). You had to have a very good reason - and be able to defend it against the Spanish Inquisition.
Ahhhhh...good times... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Are you celebrating my departure or is that supposed to be a penis substitute?
