The NFL at the Midway Point

Has there ever been a season as wacky as this one? The teams we thought would be on top(Dallas, Minnesota, New Orleans) aren't. I'm shocked my G-Men are the class of the NFC. And how 'bout the Raiders and Chiefs? That was a fun game yesterday.

Yeah the Chargers fell off hard. Though it pains me to say this as a fan, the Patriots manage to be 6-2 but really...they aren't a 6-2 team. I don't know how that happened. The Rams can actually win their division. The 49ers were thought to be serious contenders. Not so much the case.

It's been interesting.

I find it wierd that the Giants are scrubs until they play the Bears. They kick the Bears behinds..........and then they are the best team in the NFC.

The last time that happened, they WON the Superbowl.

Don't sleep on San Diego. They're a second-half team, and Rivers is playing lights out. I still think they'll win that division.

And they're getting Vjax soon to help out that battered receiving core, although, they seem to be doing just fine without him. It's that specials team that hurts. The vikings are done, no way are they catching the packers. Giants or Eagles are going to win the NFC east and the other is going to end up a wildcard. That being said, Both the West and South divisions for the AFC and NFC are anyone's game. One of the most entertaining seasons I've seen.

Sucks balls. Way too sloppy and unpredictable. Personally, I'm glad the NBA season has started.

Michael Vick is playing BETTER than he ever did in Atlanta. He looks like real QB, instead of a running back playing QB.

He's getting better coaching, and by his own admission, he's taking the job seriously and doing filmwork.

He's going to get a phat contract after the season. Plenty of teams will need a QB(Vikings?). I just want him out of the division.

Cowboys? beg Jerry shoulda picked him up as a backup. But he didn't want the bad press about him always signing ex-cons an' shit.

They put the smackdown on Brady & Belicheat. There's talent on that team. Jets better bring their A-game on Sunday.

At the hands of Mangini's team no less. Ironical! lol

BEREA, Ohio (AP)—Browns coach Eric Mangini isn't ready to hand the offensive reins over to rookie quarterback Colt McCoy(notes) just yet.

Mangini said Monday that he's been impressed and pleased with McCoy, who won his second game on Sunday when the Browns (3-5) thrashed the New England Patriots 34-14. Mangini said McCoy is "making the decision harder and harder" about who should start.

Mangini wouldn't name McCoy his starter for Sunday's game against the New York Jets (6-2). He wants to wait to see what kind of progress injured quarterbacks Seneca Wallace(notes) and Jake Delhomme(notes) have made before he has a thorough analysis on McCoy's role for the remainder of the season.

McCoy went 14 of 19 for 174 yards and did not throw an interception against the Patriots.

Short on talent. Long on heart. The Browns offensive line is by far the strength

of their team. It makes it harder to bring down a bull like Peyton Hillis. The steelers

and the falcons have been the only teams to slow him down the past few weeks.

It amazes me this guy put up a buck sixty six on the Ravens d and a buck 84 on

the Pats D.

He was still out for almost a month because he doesn't know how to slide. I agree he looks much better as a player. But in relation to this season league wide he's still suffering from the same unpredictability that everyone else is having. And if he has a couple bad weeks, what then? Does Kolb get the next start?

I didn't see anything that was too out of line with how they've been calling games all season. But if there was, the Colts are probably still about 527 calls ahead in that department over the last ten years.

Man, if the Eagles could just shore up the defense. It's better than last year's debacle, but they just gave away that game against the Titans after dominating for 3 quarters. disbelief

I will not discuss the officiating in the Colts/Eagles game. disbelief

The Chargers will do what they always do. When November rolls around, go "all in" on San Diego.

Wanna hear a joke?

I'm pleasantly surprised my Bucs are 5-3....youngest team in the league...youngest coach...things are looking up...

Jason Garrett's play calling was a big reason for the Cowboys collapse...putting him in charge won't change anything... The entire culture of the team needs to change...

Which is to say, they always get the calls. I realized upon re-reading that my last comment didn't make much damn sense. lol

Garrett won't be back next season. I'd bet not a single coach currently on the payroll will be back next season. They've got a pretty brutle schedule the rest of the year. Unless a team I haven't seen yet this season suddenly shows up they aren't winning very many more games. Promoting Garrett was just the least disrupting thing they could do while still getting rid of Wade.
