I will probably support it. But not until it comes out on dvd lol

For me, I understand the collective struggle of black actors, actors, and screenwriters not being able to get enough vehicles to express themselves creatively and be able to keep food on the table. It's essentially a make what you can and take what you can get situation. This looks like it will be a rehash of pick-a-jealousy-meets-psycho-meets-adultery thriller a lá that stupid movie Gwyneth Paltrow did with Michael Douglas in the 90's, meh. But I do have childhood friends that have intimate experience with getting the 5-10 million dollar deals from HBO and Lions Gate, but after the projects are said, done, and released, still have to stay in their crummy 2 room apartments in Harlem because there's just not enough projects (with a wide breadth of script scenarios) out there in American cinema for blacks. It's dry out there. So alot of folks will be going the tacky escapist telenovela route rather than sitting aroumd and waiting for that big Academy Award winning vehicle to come along..

...Choosing not to hate the players rather than hating the game on this one lol

i agree and understand what your saying

but its partly the black audiences fault for not supporting "out of the box" creativity

I understand both of you and Ottensen is saying, but at the same time, if I see a preview and think that the movie will suck, then I just won't go to see it, whether it's a predomintely black cast or not. I know the struggle of black actors and what not, they not being able to get the roles that they should, not enough promotion, exposure, etc...but I just don't see myself supporting a movie just because it's a black cast. I know Spike Lee preaches about these sort of things all the time, that black audiences don't support the quality black movies and rather support the buffonery ones instead...but I am that type of black viewer that will support quality stuff and even some of his movies are hit or miss with me. I dunno, this topic feels like a catch 22 to me. shrug

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

razz Y'all ain't right. Come on now. At least the quality of the previews on TV have improved. I remember when I first saw them. They were as bad as a dial-up connection. Grainy, gritty, looking like someone just took it off an old school website with RealPlayer or a cell phone cam. I know I won't be seeing this movie, though. Something about the plot seems...off. whofarted My crazy analytical self would be sitting there like I'm doing a book report, tearing it apart. ohgoon

I'd actually like to support some out of the box Black movie. That's right up my alley, actually. I'd eat it up. Ah well. I don't think that will ever happen. There isn't enough mainstream appeal for it. I know I'm bored with these same old relationship stories.

mad How about a movie with some hot Black Lesbians? Come on now!

I'm not one to support a move simply because it has a black cast either. You won't catch me within a million feet of whatever theatre released Lottery Ticket, for example. But I'm a person that doesn't mind popping an escapist, soap opera drama dvd in the player every now and then while I'm baking, maybe straightening up the house, etc. For me, this looks like one of those tacky telenovela dvds that's just right for those moments. Looks like it might be in the vain of some goofy wanna be film noir/thriller/romantic drama like Sharon Stone in Sliver, Susan Sarandon in Twighlight or Gwyneth Paltrow in a Perfect Murder. Hardly the stuff of film festival quality, but fine for when I'm folding and pressing laundry.

Why? She's from Louisiana and it's a Creole surname (French derived).

falloff It is funny and I would have either changed it or changed my first name! She was in Why Did I Get Married. She played the friend turned cheatin' ass Ho. I believe she used to be a model.

I'm not seeing this shit! It looks cheap, wrought with bad acting, and it has Thelma from Good Times in it.

Who the hell is Nephew Tommy? WTF kinda name is that? I like Denise Boutte better than Nephew Tommy!

Meh....They just need to do a Motives 4 and call it a day.

D, you know who Nephew Tommy is. That's Steve Harvey's nephew...he's on the "Steve Harvey Morning Show". He does the voice for the flamboyant "Eugene" on the show as well.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
