I love Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli biggrin I honestly believe that his films are better than a lot of Disney's films from the past 20 years

here are my favorites

Spirited Away

Princess Mononoke

Howl's Moving Castle

Nausicaa Of The Valley Wind

Castle of Caligistro (Lupin III)

Grave Of Fireflies (I watched it once and couldn't watch again....it's so sad sad )

I just watched Ponyo yesterday and I'm going to watch Whisper Of The Heart and The Cat Returns

Porco Rosso and Kiki's Delivery Service are good too

I've seen those one (in bold)

and I've got Nausicäa and Laputa on for next movie night nod

they are much more inventive and original that's for sure.

I've never seen my guys laugh so HARD! as when Totoro jumps on the ground to make the raindrops fall out of the tree, and the bit when he made the trees grow and grow and grow! falloff

there is like a tyrannical ruler, and women apparently request to leave the floating island all the time, but the request is denied them, since they have a habit of not returning.

No mention of any putas sad

I've only seen:

Grave of the Fireflies

Princess Mononoke

Spirited Away

Howl's Moving Castle

Ponyo

I agree that Grave Of The Fireflies is extremely sad. I won't be watching that again anytime soon.

Princess Mononoke is one of my favorite films ever.

My niece loved Ponyo when I brought my blu-ray copy over for her to watch--much to the chagrin of my brother and his wife because now they have to buy it. razz

Kinda off topic....

Osamu Tekuza (who influenced Hayao Miyazaki) was also a genius in my opinion. He can be considered the Godfather of Anime. I still believe that Disney believe lifted some things from his series "Kimba The White Lion" to make The Lion King

Some of his best works include Astro Boy (the first Japanese animated series to air in the United States), Black Jack, Phoenix, and of course Metropolis
