USC and Reggie Bush?

Does anyone really give a damn that USC is taking back the Heisman Trophy from Bush? They used the guy 2 win a "Championship" made millions.......and now they are throwing the guy 2 the wolves. Why didn't they do that when he was on campus?

lol Are you serious? USC isn't taking anything back. The NCAA is behind that shit. USC is actually losing a lot more than Reggie due to his fuck up. Reggie doesn't have anybody to blame but himself. He KNEW the rules and broke them. USC turned a blind eye but all schools with big programs do that. Reggie's parents were just greedy and not discreet enough. shrug

Shit's been going on for decades. Hell, there were allegations that UCLA paid players when Wooden ran the program.

nod Ain't nothing new. But if you do it, you gotta be discreet.

His stepfather agreed to have him sign with a sports agency formed by a felon and took tons of money, a house and a car from him. Then reneged and didn't repay him. Dude said on Gumbel's show, he woulda never snitched if they had just paid him. So, who's the fool? No better for him? shrug

This whole process is a joke. The man won the Heisman and no matter what they do 2 him now.....everybody knows the deal. What would the NCAA do if all brothers that play sports at their schools all boycotted and went 2 BLACK schools only?

nod All that retroactive mess is some bullshit. He ran those yards and scored those touchdowns and made them millions. So they need to quit tripping.

Reggie Bush is a NFL SuperBowl Champion. I find it very hard to believe that he really give a damn about the Heisman Trophy being taken away from him at this point.

Who would they give it back to?

And if they tried to give back the money, does that mean that we'd have to give back our Reggie Bush USC jerseys?

It's going on all over the SEC.

Some agents threw a big party in South Beach and for whatever reason, it was against NCAA rules for the players to have been there. Alabama, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina (ACC) all have players in trouble over it.

Agreed, but until that magical, mystical day called NEVER arrives, players, schools, and agents ALL know the rules and the consequences and need to face the music if they get busted.

A better idea would be for the NFL & NBA to stop bullshitting around and have a true minor league system. That way, cats who just want to play ball(and not deal with college) can go there, and get paid while learning their craft.

But the NCAA is a free minor-league system for the NFL & NBA, so why rock the boat? Things will stay status quo, and folks keep pretending big-time college football/basketball is "amateur athletics".

I don't think paying them is the answer....the NCAA needs to loosen up on these outdated rules that are supposed to be protecting the 'integrity' of college athletics...if boosters, alumni, or private organizations wanna hook up a star athlete with gifts or money, big deal...if an athlete wants to deal with an agent before their college career is over, big deal...the NCAA pretends to be something it isn't, amateur...

yeahthat

I'm sick and tired of this "student/athlete" hypocrisy. There's no such thing. Most of these kids don't have the basic skills to gain admission into most of these institutions as students. The NCAA is simply a farm system that doesn't have to pay it's players.

Thank you! The NCAA is the biggest bunch of hypocrites around. Amateur my ass - not with all this TV loot rolling in off Bowl Week and March Madness. And I can't take the NCAA shills like Dickwad Vitale and Billy Packer whining about 'kids' leaving school early for the pros. I guess it's ok for network shills to make money broadcasting these events, instead of the young men doing the actual work.

John 'Snake Oil Salesman' Calipari said it best - if a talented player wants to make his coach rich, he stays in school - if he wants to himself and his family rich, he goes pro. There ya go.

It's better than the pretense that these cats are taking meaningful classes.

Sometimes I wince listening to college athletes give interviews. That college education is working real well.
