California Overdue For ''Big One''

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/08/southern-california-overdue-for-major-earthquake-study-finds.html

I have lived in Hollywood for 8 months now and... i have felt 2 or 3 earthquakes nothing to crazy, first one freaked me out other two where just eh nothing really.

Ever since i have been here people keep saying the BIG ONE is coming

I Usually don't worry about this stuff but sadly i am 19 and still at times get that feeling of when i was younger and lived Texas, and i was terrified of tornados eventually i learned to just push off warning. But i was terrified of them for awhile!

But idk what does everyone think of this?, and the one thing that is disgusting i have read a bunch of articles on this and a lot of the comments where thing's like, I Hope L.A Fall's into the city and wipes out everyone in it or i hope all of California falls in or bring all the illegal Immigrants to L.A NOW!

How can people be such soulless assholes? sometimes i do loose faith in people eek

I've lived here all my life, I survived and did some S&R work after the '89 quake and I too am waiting for the "Big One".

My greatest hope is that it'll chase some of these fake-ass outsiders back out of the state and housing prices will fall back to affordable.

Yeah one of my friend's his mom and them used to live in a big house[She was a soap actress back in the day lol] And in 94 there house was destroyed utterly by the big quake. And it is scary hearing about it=[ but the people did survive well quite a few.... i just don't know if i should be scared or not, seem's there always predicting the ''big one'' and i have learned to brush most earthquake warnings off so..idk confused

But they happen all the time . . .

The Big One is the only one I worry about.

But where can you live without life threatening natural hazards?

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Wait until you HEAR an earthquake . . .. lol

I'll expound on that . . .

Sometimes it sounds like a big truck or freight train before you feel it. Just as your wondering how you could be hearing a train . . . you feel it.

Sitting at home one day, it sounded like a truck had slammed into the house, a big bang and the house shook. No truck, an earthquake.

I think the noise is caused by displaced air from the quake, like a tsunami wave . . .

I Agree with your earlier comment, saying where can you live without anything hazardous or disaster filled. Very true coming from Texas i am used to the threat of tornadoes but all my friend's in Cali are like f..k that lol kind of like how i felt about earthquakes razz

As for hearing them.... nope have not yet when i do i am sure i will be freaking out.... just a bit cool

I've felt many earthquakes but only heard one once, and it did sound just like that eek
