that's meaghan.

i dont really act any more, but i am incapable of saying no when someone callls and asks me to play a role. i had a friend who wrote me a part, and so i really could not say no. it wasn't a great play, but meaghan and i really bonded during it. we stayed friends, and when i started writing the characters, i wrote the part for her, tailored to her, and written in a speaking style that compliments her own, even though the character is based on an old friend. she's also the only actor that we kept from the last reading of it.

she is a SEXY woman. very confident, very bright, and has a smoking hot body. her character is also the only character beside ben that will likely be in all 5 plays in the cycle that this is the first of. the second show (which is in rough draft and getting edited and fixed at this point) is her baby. her character goes from supporting to lead, and meaghan didnt even bat an eye when i told her it requires her to be naked on stage and simulating sex quite a bit.

god bless her, she's kind of my muse. i want to spend the rest of my life writing for her.

mushy

jesus christ, she sounds like my dream girl lol wow.

i am so in love with her. she's kind of assertive and slightly dominant, a quality i love in women (see: my love for punkmistress and tackam), and best of all, she totally gets off on seeing guys having gay sex, especially if they are straight.

she's me with a hot body, a vagina, and confidence.

lol

not in "gaging noel" (the first play, the one this cast is for), no. danni, kevin, and a new character named josh do in the second one "beasts of suburbia"

bests is a very dark, twisted, sexual, angry piece. gaging is very sweet, odd, and quirky, so no nekkid in that one.

gorgeous cast hun!

i felt really bad for vincent. when he first responded to the casting call, he wanted to read ben, but i told him he was too tall and pretty to be ben. poor kid's gonna get pigeon-holed as himbo's all his life.

but then once he read the piece, he totally decided he wanted to be noel
.

awwwww, but on the other hand what a way to be pigeon-holed.

Nice!

true.

it's kind of a double edged sword for actors. beauty will limit you in the eyes of an audience, casting directors, directors, and such, but it's also extraordinarily hard to get them to pay attention to you if you're not pretty.

meaghan's my girl. she's beautiful, strong, decidedly feminist, and has proven to be ready to try whatever crazy bullshit i cook up over the few years i have known her, without hesistation. she didn't even blink an eye when i told her the part of danni required full-frontal nudity and simulated sex for the second show.

i ADORE her. she is one of only 2 actors the parts were written specifically for. her part was originally supposed to be a one-off supporting character, but the more i wrote it for her, the more the character became the only character other than ben to be in at least 3 of the 5 plays in the cycle. i am only in the beginning of the third, but i would lay money on danni being in all 5, due solely to meaghan. the second show in the cycle "beasts of suburbia" was written to bring her to the leading role, rather than supporting, even forcing ben who is the backbone of the cycle into a supporting position.

i love love LOVE me some meaghan.

that's tonya. she's beautiful. i actually met her under really odd circumstances. i went to a bar i never go to, and she was sitting there, talking about having grown up in the foster care system. i leavesdropped for a bit, then joined in, as i also was a foster kid.

we bonded very quickly, and i started telling her how the characters danni and kevin were foster siblings who have stayed siblings in adult life, and how both represent the high and low of what a foster care upbringing can do to a person. i told her how the entire second show "beasts of suburbia" is essentially vengence porn for formerly abused kids, and about the very angry and cruel plot.

she really really really wanted to play danni, but it was written for meaghan. so i let her read the first script "gaging noel" and she really connected to anna, who is a very sullen, angry, and intense character. i knew she was gold for the show when she went home that night, stripped all her makeup off, and took deliberately unnattractive pictures of herself looking incredibly intense, angry, and emotionally raw and emailed them to me.

they are pretty. i tried not to get anyone too ridiculously pretty, because i want a more realistic view of normal beauty in the show, as the characters are about their personalities rather than their looks. but they all proved to be so talented and so understand and connect with their characters, that i couldnt say no.

i did tell the people who's chars are naked in the second one (danni, josh, and kevin) that they aren't allowed to go nuts at the gym, as i don't want porn star looks though.

Not just of their looks, though they all are lovely, but more the magnitude of your talent.

you're so sweet.

i'm not that talented. i just know how to fake it well.

"gaging noel" is just a lot of pop psychology put into a blender with comedy, a comic book sensability, and a very sad story that somewhat mirrors reality about the murder of a close friend.

"beasts of suburbia" is me being really mad at the world, vengence porn, some really crisp filthy david mamet-y dialogue, cocaine, nudity and the death of innocence.

the third is going to be comedy, a refusal to grow up, turning 30, masculinity, straight guys, a camping trip with old guy friends i went on including a bizarre and terifying night we had on the mountain top, and a goofy john hughes like dopeyness.

the basic formula is take something that stands out in my life, make it more dramatic and interesting, smother it in word games and comedy, puree and present with a sprig of parsley as garnish.

artsy soup.

lol
