Post songs and the memories they trigger . . .

There are some songs that INSTANTLY take me back to a particular place and time . . .

Freshman year, spring dance, we LITERALLY did the Da Butt til it made us sore. Our teachers and chaperones were mortified at this dance. But we did it to every song cuz it was an excuse to have a guy grindin' on our booties. Dang, we were fass booty!

Zapp I Wanna Be Your Man . . . I can't hear this without remembering Malfred Duncan, captain of the football team, singing this to me between 2nd and 3rd period one day. He had a jambox, flowers, and a teddy bear with his name embroidered on it (I still have it too). This was a big deal cuz he was BMOC and I was a nerdy freshman. Damn, that nucca was FOINE! mushy

Butt Naked Booty Bless encapsulates my college experience and all the parties I went to. Anytime this song came on me and the girls got our stroll ON and since I was the tail I had to show out extra hard. This was MY song!

Oh yea! He was no duran duran but those of us into the new romantic thing LOVED him! If I remember right the concert near sold out... In fact, I was on the floor middle area right up near the stage, the romantics played first and they were ok but when adam started coming out the crowd pushed forward in a frenzy knocking me off my feet and I couldnt regain my balance cuz they wouldnt stop pushing! As im falling and screaming I feel 2 hands pulling me up and over the gate thing in front of the stage... it was 2 security guards who LITERALLY saved my life!! eek then I had to go sit up in the balcony hrmph

I was thee biggest lil kim fan lol and I looooove Angie Mar. I played this song damn near everday. Me and my cousin was driving to the mall and we saw angie sittin in her jeep while the song was coming on. She rapped her whole verse for us and pulled off.

Although I watched my share of MTV in the early years, I'm glad I grew up before music videos.

All the songs of my youth have specific memories attached to them, rather than images of someone else's interpretation of the song.

"Muskrat Love" by Capt'n & Tennile (sp?)

Reminds me of the year my parents were divorcing. My mother, older sister and I moved to Florida to live with my mother's parents for awhile.

What about songs that make you cringe? Like...even though you loved the song...the song was baaad...when you hear it you think of a terrible time or an idiot you were with and think, "Why lawd, why????" And you have to turn it off lol

Example: When I hear MJB, I Can Love You...I think of my ex listening to it when he was drinking and I hate the song.

Also this one...because he would get drunk and act the ass...

Now this reminds me of the summer of 2000 in Chicago when I'd just bought my new Blazer. I was riding around with the windows down blasting this... boxed

I was so happy that year... lol I got rid of the boyfriend. woot!

"Walk This Way" by Aerosmith. I had just moved to a new town, went cruising, and picked up the hottest babe in town.

I know. I hate him for making that song trigger such bad memories. mad But I must be forgiven for Thong Song. I was so happy that summer and I loved Chicago and I loved my life. I remember driving down North Ave toward the lake and everyone as playing that song. When I got to the lake it's all I heard.

Also this one...Jet Li love

The only boyfriend I had who actually loved to slow dance at home. I remember we had a "date" at home and sent the kids to the sitter. He put this on and asked me to dance. I even remember how he smelled and what he was wearing. sigh heart

What a night..and the other song that brings specific memories is...

The same boyfriend and I got caught by my best friend on her living room floor. boxed It was 3am...how did I know she'd come downstairs for a glass of milk. Bitch... mad
