I've been a non-smoker for a year and a half now.

But before I gave it up, it was this:

\

Though, the last year or so, I had swicthed to lights (with not as pretty packaging):

And I was a very picky smoker. nod

I like a cigarette with a cocktail, on occasion. But I don't think that makes me a smoker.

When I do smoke, it's one of these...

They're so skinny that my friends and I call them "Hello Kitty" cigarettes. (Because they look like the kind of cigarettes Hello Kitty would smoke if Hello Kitty smoked cigarettes.) lol

The best thing about them is that they're so light, they don't leave a smoke stink on my fingers.

I will never go back to being a smoker, but at the same time I really, really miss it.
It’s like an old boyfriend who I know was bad for me. You know it’s no good, but damn! it was sexy and most of the time it felt so good.

I've tried that a few times and I get all excited to have one and then once it's actually lit and I take a puff I'm disgusted. Which is good! It's just not the same. When you're not addicted you don't get the same thing out of it. It mostly just tastes nasty and makes you feel gross.

It still looks cool, though. lol

Once (while quite tipsy) I had someone give me a cigarette to hold (I didn't light it), so I had something to do with my hand. I wanted a prop to gesture with. That worked out great. lol.

I quit a couple months after Carrie did, so it's been a year and a couple months for me. I smoked Marlboro Lights. I only have one friend who smokes now, and I see her irregularly, so it's okay. I'm surprised by how much I DON'T miss it. I feel done with it, and I hope I remain done with it forever. Hearing stories of people who go back to smoking after years of not smoking makes me really nervous. The only thing I really have to watch out for is having too much to drink--that's the only time I'm even slightly tempted to smoke again. But so far, that temptation has been easy to resist.

Same here. And even then, it doesn't cross my mind unless I see someone with a lit cigarette.

I had quit twice before and been miserable both times. Just miserable. This time, I don't know what it was...I just felt totally done with it. It almost felt like a trick. I was like Carrie--I thought it was totally sexy and cool. It also helped me socially, in a way, because it made me less nervous. I loved smoking. All my friends thought I'd never quit. But there you go...sometimes people really do change.

Also, I gotta say, it's been a nice little boost in this recession to have all that extra money I used to spend on smoking. biggrin

I've never smoked cigarettes, although I have been known to have a cigar every once in a great while. I thought about taking up smoking before all the bars in most major cities banned it; it seemed like a great way to meet people. lol

But I hated when I'd go out and come home smelling like an ashtray with a raspy tthroat from inhaling second-hand smoke all night.

My worst addiction is drinking diet Coke, I guess. I have one every morning (and have been doing so for at least 10-15 years). shrug

I started smoking Gauloises and Roth Handle in High School because apparently it was super cool to stick an exhaust pipe in your face and drag on it (they were unfiltered confused ). When I moved to Germany I smoked Lucky Strike or Marlboros...

quit smoking cold turkey when I married and moved back to Cali. Don't miss it for one second either. I think it was more about the "look" and certainly the ritual. I enjoyed packing the box and buying the accessories, I had a really nice couple of cigarette cases & lighters...

now I'll bum a smoke if I'm out drinking with friends because that's what I miss most... Cigs with alchohol or with coffee are the fixations I miss most...

now, thanks to a new job I've had to curtail my passion for weed as well... sigh
