you say that as if you're proud of it. why?

a mammorgram is preventive care. anyone with
the option to get it done once a year should
jump at it. it can save your life.

being healthy, having good genes and eating
good food doesn't mean nothing can happen to
you, ever.

at least think about it, please.

No wonder theres more and more illnesses and diseases like diabetes here!! What in the hell is the point of this thread?

You think you're the only person who eats real, whole foods? lol

Or is it about your husband's social worker thinking you're a wack job because instead of talking about his care you started yelling about how your mother fed you REAL FOOD!!!

Mammograms?

Bread?

I'm so confused.

it's crazy to say that people here in the USA don't eat real food! sure there are people that eat a lot of junk food here, and fast food, etc. but there are a lot of people who also eat a well balanced diet, filled with fresh fruits and veggies. where i live we have many, many farmer's markets which have some great fresh produce. maybe you should seek out some local markets in your area? and have you tried baking your bread at home? or going to a local bakery?

i lived in brazil for a long time, and i remember people there making fun of what they thought people in the USA ate too, and i started to get annoyed sometimes, because yeah, they make a lot of things home made in brazil, but they also like junk food, and tons of soda, etc. and many foods there are fried. lol

this whole *^)*&^#$ thread makes me want to go grab a coke, eat a loaf of wonder bread, hit mcdonalds, taco bell, wendy's, all for a value meal, and top it off with some bad cheese.

It won't make me too sick, cuz I know my body.....

Oh, and I can't stand Rachel Ray, either.....

so I will watch Paula Deen and learn how to cook with butter.

My husband is disabled and because of that medical services and hospitals, doctors, medications, health care and everything that goes with it are a part of our life and, obviously, its virtually a HUGE part of the American life as well!! In fact, I would say that it takes up moreorless 85% of this countrys way of life, which, to be honest, I am so totally shocked about!!

Anyway, my husband has just been assigned a new social worker, because his previous one had left, and she came round 2 see us one day last week, and, anyway during the conversation I told her that I had no real cause to b constantly visiting doctors and clinics and everything and I told her that I was virtually a very healthy person, due 2 my parents, particularly my mother giving, not only me, but my sister a very good start in life with proper REAL food as babies and children and, as a family, we lead a very healthy lifestyle!!!

Anyway, when I told my husbands social worker this, she virtually looked at me as if I was some weird freak of nature!!

Is being sick and ill and disabled now, in the USA, the normal way of life now????

I am totally shocked!!!!!shocked shocked shocked

nope you're not a freak. we just live in a medicated culture. most healthy people probably don't go to the doctor often if at all. then again...just because we don't feel bad doesn't mean there isn't something lurking that if not checked early won't cause us irreversible harm.

heck...i dunno.

I have had no real cause 2 get a mammogram!! I think I will know MYSELF if something was wrong with me, I know my body THAT well enough!!![/quote]

My friend also thought she knew her body = she was persuaded to get a mammogramm - - they found deep hidden cancer - she had a mascetomy - but she died last November - remember you are a long time dead my friend - get scanned or at least get a health check. Cancer is insidious and its a random killer - just because you look after your body doesn't mean to say that you will escape. I agee that eating healthy and prevention is all a good thing - but ignoring medical prevention, is in my book, plain stupid.

I keep thinking if my friend had been scanned earlier they could have detected it earlier, treated her medically and I would still be having coffee every morning with her. I miss her so much and am crying while I am writing this because she was not ready to die and had so much life and love to give and I feel it is such a waste.

Please get checked even is it is to say you are healthy.

It is easy to pick on the US, I hear it all of the time here in the UK.
Funny thing is, other countries integrate things into their countries from America.
If it was such a shitty country, why do other countries want things that are considered "American"?
I find it amusing the shit that other countries love from the states.

If someone cannot find healthy foods to eat in America, they are not looking hard enough.

I see plenty of obese unhealthy ppl here in the UK, just not as many....why???
because this country is A LOT smaller. That's all!
