TRAVELLERS/People who've been to Madrid...

Any recommendations on decent hostels to stay at there? I'm trying to put together a last-minute trip for next month and I know almost nothing about the city.

There's plenty of hostels and cheap hotels centrally near Puerta del Sol, work out 25-35$ p.n approx I'd reckon, check the location on google maps beforehand.

I wouldn't go to any city which allows the torture of defenceless animals for entertainment.

Fuck Madrid.

you know before we went to NYC I google streetviewed the locales of all the cheap hotels eek some of them were like underneath a freeway or next to an abandoned construction site. One was apparently smack-dab in the middle of the jewish district and it was a moment before I worked out what was going on with all the orthodox out in their hats and prams - it was like looking at an olden days photo!

Oh yeh, thas what I meant, though you can't really see the seedier aspect in the daytime the same. Prostitution is pretty aboveboard in Madrid, there're literally brothels adjacent to police stations.
