It wasn't until Leela came along that I had proper memories. Robots of Death & talons of weng chiang terrified me.

By coincidence I have just finished reading the book "Dalek I loved you" by Nick Griffith and he talks about both these stories too.

Have you seen Talons of Weng Chiang on DVD??

I haven't, but Im thinking of getting it to see if it's still scary after all these years.

Yeah it's a great DVD. I'm about 6 months behind with them, because I can now pick up one a month for about a third of the price from www.zavvi.com smile

saves me a fortune smile

Thanks for the tip. I hate the name Zavvi, I can't believe some marketing guy got paid a fortune to come up with the name.

The good news is that even though I live far from the UK, they will deliver to me for £2.35, which is still much cheaper than buying the DVDs here.

I am already for the new series, I got a crack for the bbc iplayer, and getting hyped now. But still its not the same watching it on my computer anytime I want, nothing beats that Saturday evening feeling when you settle down to watch the good Dr before heading out for the evening.

It's cool isn't it? I stayed in the premier inn place just round the corner last year. Looks fantastic at night.

And it's relatively new, not an original. Was built in the mid nineties.

I've got a couple of pics of me stood outside one of the old glasgow ones.taken about 20 years apart... Talk about time travel wink

it's a definite Saturday evening show smile that's where it belongs. Be careful that the DVDs play in your region, or that your player is multi region. If so, they're a total bargain from there.

Yeah, I live in New Zealand, but my player plays all zones, I lived in UK for 6 years, so most of my DVD collection is UK zone anyways.

I have been back in New Zealand for almost a year, BBC is one of the things I miss most.

I'd like to join a local fan club, but thats like admitting you have a problem, isn't it! wink

Slight update for you all. It's definitely looking like the series will start on the traditional Easter Saturday slot, no time has been announced yet. But it's now looking like the first episode - The Eleventh Hour is now going to run to 65 minutes smile

No info on whether this will be edited for the US premiere a couple of weeks later.

Aaannnddd.... Series 6 has been given the green light already and pre production starts in July! whoop whoop!

News just in:
It has been reported that ABC in Australia will be showing the new series of Doctor Who from April, though no day has been scheduled at present; Matthew Galvin, from ABC Audience and Consumer Affairs, said:

"I am pleased to let you know the ABC will have the rights to screen series five of Doctor Who, starring Matt Smith, from April this year. Scheduling is yet to be finalised, however visit our guide regularly for updates.
The news indicates that Australia, Canada and the United States will all show the new series within a few weeks of the UK premiere transmission.

Haha, no flying pigs, but I used to love listening to Animals as I went past.

Still no date when the new series of Dr Who will be shown in New Zealand.
We were three weeks ahead of Australia with the Xmas special so I'm hopeful it won't be too long after easter.

Here we go Australia!

ABC Television in Australia have announced that the new series of Doctor Who is to be made available on their online iView service, a couple of days before broadcast on television. Director of Television Kim Dalton said:

iView is an additional way for Australian audiences to watch ABC TV's content generally after, but in this special case before, its television broadcast. We hope the lure of Doctor Who will provide incentive for more viewers to discover iView.

Previous series of Doctor Who were available on the iview service, becoming its highest rated programme last year with some 378000 views between April and December. TV Tonight blog reports The Eleventh Hour will make its Australian debut on the ABC on Sunday 18 April 2010 on ABC1 at 7.30pm. It will be available on the iview service from 12am on Saturday 17 April 2010.

no, she didn't have to be as it was apparently royalty free. It's been discussed here and on housequake before. If you google 'delia Derbyshire clouds lovesexy' it should come up. Her soundscapes are timeless (which is fitting!) the original Who theme is so creepy and different and parts of it were still used when the show returned in 2005.
