Probably 2006 or so, when I was in Seattle. By that point, though, I was already semi-retired.

My favorite era remains the final "golden age" of the Indianapolis scene (1999-2001). Our parties were smaller (the "big" events every Saturday had about 2,000 or so), but the vibe was better, the community was tighter, and my favorite genre -- house music -- was the one everyone loved. I never heard house at Seattle parties. Also, we could bring in big-name talent, and we had some really good locals as well.

I miss the culture, but ultimately, it probably belongs in the past. Fortunately, the music is still alive here, and I'm still friends with some of my fellow veterans from the Indy underground. We're just doing different things with it now, such as house parties streamed live over the Internet and club events. Given the way the City of Indianapolis killed our scene in the summer of 2001, I don't blame the promoters for not wanting to stick their necks out by doing a real old-school rave again.

I will say this: if you never attended one, I don't think you can fully understand it. Sure, I can try to explain it, and I've got plenty of great stories. But ultimately, you had to have been there.
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.

HAHA good one. I've read about them. Doesn't seem like anything I would ever be into.
