If you can't use classic pipes insulator you can always cover it with any kind of fabric (or glass wool, as you wish)

I remember that happened to my parents years ago. Not a good thing at all. This is what I can't stand about winter, especially when the temperatures dip below 20 degrees.

other ideas that can help!

pool nooodles cut into sections rapped around a pipe can help the exposed pipes.

or for the outside faucets a wal mart bag some pillow stuffing or grass or even a clean diaper can be used to make a isolating cover. stuff the grass or fluff into the bag and rap it around the facet. Or the diaper and cover with the bag.

also peek in your addict and see if there is any left over fiber glass...

or use oven mits! or anything that can be rapped around.

Yeah well, it was in the 30's here today, (Long Island, NY), and it was "warm" enough for me to be outside (briefly) with no coat on considering what freezing weather we've had these past few days!

It's not quite as cold today as it has been but now our pipe nightmare is starting. Today at work, two pipes busted and one of the ladies rooms was flooding. Then they turned off water downtown. The city has over 70 water lines busted. When I got home, there was very little water pressure. Now there is no water at all. There's no water at home, no water at the surrounding stores in my area, and no water at work. It's a mess.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, the lows have been in the teens. Yesterday, it got a little warmer and those lines started thawing and rupturing. Yeserday, there was around 70 water mains broken. Today, that number is up to 106, 60 something of which have been repaired. A lot of the cities lines are almost 100 years old and this is an extremely broke city.
