The War Against Sleep

I need sleep.

Desperately. I am going about my days with slight deprevations that accumulate by the weekend. Sometimes, I take 2 or 3 hour naps on Sunday to make up for my schedule.

I. hate. to. nap.

When I was in my 20s, it was nothing to exist on 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night on a good night, and 2 or 3 on .... erm.... busy nights. lol. But I can't exist on less than 8 hours of sleep anymore. It drives me mad.

But for some reason my schedule has been such that my days are filled with activities and when I get an opportunity to have free time, it's usually relatively late, and I end up pushing my 'free time' into 'sleep time', and this isn't helpful.

But if I don't do anything, I end up tossing and turning in bed. confused

Is anyone else engaged in a war against sleep? How are you coping?

Are you stressed out or have major worries Dan?

Seek the underlying issues that keep you from sleeping.

I love sleeping...and I love a good nap. I've always needed lots - at least 7 hours a night. And I'll occasionally pull off a 10-hour sleep on the weekends.

Unfortunately, my hormones conspire to keep me from sleep for a good week out of every month. neutral

Hey Dan,,,,,

Don't forget your change in climate that you're going through. Although you may think Florida and BKK are similar, they're really not. You need to be drink so much more water and resting more that you're used to.

Fauxie would have a good idea of this....especially since his move would have been a WAY more extreme change.

So take your granny naps!!! Just rename them "power" naps to make yourself feel better if necessary lol

I went to bed at quarter to nine last night. I am never embarrassed to say when I need a big nap suddenly either.

I was having issues with sleep,I would sleep 7-8 hours, but when I would wake up,I felt like I hadn't really slept at all. It was extremely irritating. I finally went to the doctor to see about maybe getting something to help me sleep, but after talking to her, about the going's on in my life, she came to the conclusion that my problem was depression, that and the financial worries that I was having. Since I started taking my prozac, I have been sleeping ALOT better. Are you depressed?

falloff Indeed. I've been a bit like Imago lately actually, feeling like I need to catch up a few hours. For several days I didn't get the chance but then a couple of days ago I got a 3 hour nap and I was all good again. Unlike him, I love a good nap. Time was when I used to nap at least an hour nearly every day. connorhawke's definitely right about the difference in climate and needing to take on water. Mon and I go through so many 6 packs of 1.5 litre bottles per week it's crazy, and yet it often still feels like not enough.

I've been working for about a month, non stop. I've only been getting about 4 hours of sleep each night. My next off day is Xmas. I honestly just wanna sleep all day and night. I really don't wanna be bothered w/ dinners/parties.

i found the only time i often dose off early is when i'm in a vacation. otherwise it's an insomniac hell.

most times i just stay awake, fight my way through the day and hit the bed as soon as i get back home, then wake up late and the cycle goes on.

I don't like napping either.

Maybe get checked out by a doctor. At least get a physical and see if all your numbers are normal. Make sure there's no medical condition that needs attention. Hopefully, all is OK.

There's probably no other solution than to go to bed earlier.

Hey kiddo! One of the best pieces of advice we ever got was "Sleep when the baby sleeps".

The natural thing is to think, "The baby's asleep. Now I can do some personal things" but the reality is that if you don't sleep when he does, you won't get a whole lot of sleep.

Good luck!
