Thanks, Fauxie! In the past, I'd always hoped my blogs would catch on right away, and when they didn't, after a few posts, I'd give up writing.
I now know that a lack of comments does not necessarily equal a lack of readers. wink I'll just keep at it.

It also helps that I started it for my Opinion Writing/Blogging class in college. Every post I make on Thursdays will be graded by my professor. boxed

That's good, it'll keep you at it and give it a proper chance to be read by more people. smile

Thank you.
Just remember that it takes patience and sticking to it. Also consistence, to remain active in search engines. I try to blog no less than 3 times a week on a slow week. Most of the time I blog at least 5 times.
Self promotion is very important also. A lot of people think all you have to do is start a blog (or create a website) and folk will just find you. Some will, yes, but not the majority IMO. You really have to get out there and network.
I find a good way to get your blog out there is by visiting other people's blogs (especially people who blog on a common interest, not just something random). You want to have a genuine interest in their blog and not just post a link to yours, as that would be considered rude. I seldom will publish someone's post if it's just something like "visit my blog at....", yet will not only publish their post but give them a mention (with link) in mine if we share a common interest and I am a fan of their blog.
But just by posting a comment on others' blogs can gain you readers, as your name will generally be linked to your blog in most cases.
