And shame on you as a New York city resident for rooting against the New York team. Do you know how much revenue each game generates for the city, not to mention winning the series? Might as well root for more budget cuts.

Hey, I got no problem rooting for the Mets. razz I know where the revenue goes -- back to Steinbrenner and the overpaid Yankee players, not the city. The Yankees even tried to use city money to build their new staduim. mad I'm curious to know how much it costs the city if/when they win? (Extra NYPD in case celebrating gets out of hand, closed streets for a parade, etc.) I'd be surprised if the revenue the city receives is more than the cost it incurs for something like this.

And I was almost late for a very important meeting tonight because the first D train that showed up at my stop was full of Yankees fans on their way to the game. At 5:15pm in midtown. rolleyes (Like it takes 3 hours to get to the Bronx.) I had to wait for 2 more trains before I could shove my way on. How come the so-called revenue from all these visitors isn't helping the MTA provide more trains?

I'm glad Philly has to deal with them on Halloween. I'm sure that'll be a treat. (No pun intended.)

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

jone70 we might have worse problems then you had getting to your meeting, are transit system, SEPTA, might be on strike starting 12AM Friday night here in Philly if the union won't agree on the deal that's been presented to them. With the series coming here on Saturday that's gonna be hell for alot of people trying to get to the game without a car.

Go thing I prefer to watch in the comfort of my home, lol!!

If you can't see the intricacies of each play in baseball then maybe YOU'RE boring.

Erin mentioned to me the other night that she always found baseball to be boring. But, now that she has been watching it more (she hasn't really had a choice wink ), and listening to me break down what is happening and all the possible situations and decisions during almost every pitch...she's realizing how cerebral the game is.

I feel like a teacher that has gotten through to a student. touched

Y'all are so cute! Maybe one day I may watch a full game. My friends say its better to be there and watch than on television. 'Till then I'm waiting for NCAA March Madness. wink

So all these countries have competing teams? (I know less than nothing about Baseball. sad boxed)

Have any of these countries had teams that have won the World Series?

Anyone?.....

...Bueller?

I was being funny because I thought you were being smart with your question. lol No, those countries are represented by the players on the final two teams from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and New York, New York. Many baseball players in the states now are from foreign countries, Latin America in particular, that you can almost say the American World Series can be "World" Series.

A true tournament where each country has its own team would be the World Baseball Classic that gets played every three years I believe. Japan has won both times since the tournament began in 2006.

On the contrary, the home games bring people out of their homes, many from outside the city even and those people have to pay toll, pay taxis, pay for subway metrocards (ask pitcher Cliff Lee about that, lol), go out to restaurants before the game, and if they are from outside the city, maybe even stay in hotels and do who knows what else while they are in town. None of that money spent goes to the Yankees. It's good for the city when the Yankees are in the World Series.

I would expect CC to be very sharp tonight. If not, then that Phillies team clearly does well against him. I wouldn't mind the series going back to NY at all. nod

interesting point made on sports radio today....CC can go on short rest because of his size, etc. Girardi should NOT pitch AJ Burnett tommorrow...if the yanks win against Lee tommorrow a plus, but by resting Burnett another day, he'd be fresher for a Yankee Stadium start, much more for a Yankee advantage. How about Pettite?....a win, and an RBI

The Yanks HAVE to win tonight because Cliff Lee will no doubt shut them down again tomorrow. A.J. Burnett has a good record on three days rest, but I don't know if Andy can pull it off in game 6 on short rest.

No definitely not trying to be smart when it comes to Baseball. Not possible. Despite being curious, I genuinely no nothing about it! sad

In the back of my mind, I always assumed it was a genuine 'World Series'. Now I know better, I can't help but think that calling it that is at best presumptuous, or at worst arrogant.

There are many sporting codes that have players from foreign countries competing. Hardly a justification for calling it the world series.

I'm really not trying to be provocative. I appreciate your info. Thank you.

When the World Series tournaments started over a century ago, baseball wasn't really played in any other country so the U.S. teams were seen as the best in the world. That doesn't necessarily apply anymore today, but traditionalists won't change the name that has been in place for several decades.

One more win for the Yanks! woot!

I really don't see them beating Cliff Lee tonight no matter who starts so I say throw starting pitcher Chad Gaudin out there as a sacrificial lamb and then bring back A.J on full rest for game 6 back in NY on Wednesday. I trust A.J. on full rest much more than Pettitte on three days rest.

If A.J. somehow beats Cliff Lee tonight then Girardi is a better manager than I thought. lol But starting A.J. tonight also means the Yanks have another automatic out in their lineup with catcher Jose Molina in addition to the pitcher's spot. A lot of the regulars already aren't hitting in the series. Why make it easier for Lee like that?

I'm of the same opinion. Pitch Gaudin, try for the win, but either way rest the bullpen and don't worry about the loss if it happens.

AJ on full rest AND in the Bronx? That's how you baptize that new cathedral my friends.

woot!

I didn't expect Cliff Lee to give up five big runs last night, but the end result was still the same as I thought--Yanks lost. And now they have to hope Pettitte can outpitch Pedro tomorrow on short rest.

I just wanted to remind everyone that there wasn't a team better than the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball in 2009.

They were better than every other team.

They were the best.

GO YANKEES!!! woot!

And all the misinformed fools hating on the Yankees because of their payroll need to STFU. The Yankees play by the rules set up by MLB. The Steinbrenners actually invest in their team, unlike some owners who pocket the loot while their teams flounder.
