I've never really known what I wanted to do. Looking back on my childhood aspirations, I didn't really have any. My first idea was to be a psychiatrist (this I decided when I was, like, 8). Next I wanted to be a teacher, but I think that was more cause it was the only profession I was close enough to to understand. And, you know, summers off. In high school I decided all I wanted in life was to live in a cute apartment in Uptown and find a job in a record store or something. That was pretty much my life goal, and it was achieved at age 19.

Now that I've become fairly successful in the corporate world, I really am starting to hate it. I do like my job, I like the people I work with and such, but man. Some of it just sucks the soul right out of you. I sit in meetings and my mind wanders and I think "Really? This is how I spend my precious time on earth, sitting through meetings of people babbling 40+ hours a week"?

My new goal is to co-own a business with one of my bffs, probably selling something, so I can hang out with my friends and cool peeps and listen to music all day. It will probably even be music-related if not an out and out record store. So I suppose I will have improved on the original plan. lol.

I've always wanted to be a teacher. I used to line my dolls and teddy bears up in rows with shoeboxes and play "school". lol
I'd make little worksheets and I had a small chalkboard and everything. geek

…if indeed you have found it!

Explain to me what compels you.

i study other languages and cultures. mind you, it isn't my profession.
what compels me? i hate not understanding what people are saying.

I'm with whistle here...although what compels me is the uncanny fact that everyone is exactly the same, no matter what language they're speaking.

That and normally I can tell what a person's talking about even if I don't know the language and it frustrates me not being able to fill in the gaps smile

On Saturday I was contemplating this very point after having a fit of giggles with the lady that was selling me my sushi (about Coke Zero being Diet Coke for men who don't want everyone to know they are on a diet rolleyes )

I've only ever been good in creative fields. I don't know why that is...it just is.
