how physically fit are you? could you run a 5k without dropping dead?
OK, maybe 5k is too much (that's a little over 3 miles for non-metric types). how about 1 mile? anything you care to share about your fitness level is cool. everyone's a fruit & nut case

I haven't run since my race, though. It's been rainy practically ever since.
I'll probably start running on a treadmill regularly soon here. I've just been taking a bit of a break. I do yoga on Tuesday nights with a class and I do a bit at home by myself on weekends, though. |

Running is not the best option it puts a lot of unecessary strain on the knees. I jog and power walk 4km daily on the treadmill or whilst walking my dog with hand weights and it's excellent with the whole body in motion. My cardio routine also consists of 3km on the bike, 100 minimum lifts on the abswing and jump rope.

I can run over 3 miles but it isn't recommened by my docotor as I have bad knee's. So, I regularly use an elliptical trainer.

i could do 5k at the moment. not too much more though.

I haven't jogged since high school and I don't think I'm going to take it up again (I don't think my knees are up to the challenge anymore), but I do thirty minutes of cardio five times a week. I alternate between jump rope & working on an elliptical - and I walk to and from work at a fairly brisk pace every day (25 minutes at a brisk pace each way).
I quit smoking about 5 1/2 years ago and predictably put on a pile of weight in the aftermath. I finally got off my butt & did something about it in January of '08 and dropped about thirty-five pounds fairly quickly. I'm now basically just working to maintain that level. I wouldn't say I'm in peak shape or anything; I still have a touch of flab on my belly and I don't have much in the way of muscle definition, but I feel energetic & healthy. Jog? Yes, but not run,,,,,5k would be easy, thats exactly one hour.
I've been in the gym EVERYDAY for a year now, I didn't miss a single session and each day I feel my fitness improving everytime I make an activity around the house. [Edited 10/30/09 3:42am]

I am not sure I could run 5k right now - as run generally indicates speed to me; however I could easily jog 5k today. My general fitness is pretty good, I do between 30-90 minutes of cardi at least 5 days out of the week, as well as trying to fit in some pilates. So yes, i feel i am pretty fit ![]() I'm thinking about doing a half next year. ![]() I'm taking the winter off as my knees were starting to get really sore near the end of my training. And being I'm totally new to running this year, I don't want to make the rooky mistake of overtraining and injuring myself. I'll do other stuff through the winter and pick it up again around March. That's the plan, anyway. |

It is so much fun! Im thinking bout doing a whole but it is soooo hard on a persons body and lets face it...im not 20 anymore! ![]() ~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~

Awww thanks but its really just all about building your endurance! since you already have cardio vascular strength you would have a jump start! ~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~
