Please Tell Me This Happens To Young Prince Fans

For some reason,when I was jamming with my band,my drummer missed a symbol and I said,"do you wanna play or be a sucky drummer?"At that point I felt like Prince. Another thing is I'm fascinated with splits and I've been doing them since 9/17. And the last thing,"I think" I've following Prince to closely because when my non-band member friends come to get me to come outside,i'll simply tell them,"I have more important things to do(music)". Do you think I need to chill on the Prince personality?Because my teacher(music teacher) talked to me on Friday and said he can see how Prince inspired me.

So what's your opinion? If your gonna be mean,please dont post

It happened to me over 20 years ago and I still have certain Prince mannerisms.
We take from some and we give to others. It's that circle of influence...Go with it, it won't kill you.

prince has a great work ethic...eye aspire 2 have the work ethic that he is known for...I feel the same way when I do my thang sometimes,,,

I would be working on a song and hit a road block...then I say.
"Prince did not become such a good muscician by giving up...he pushed
himself...there for I should do the same."

I see nothing wrong with this...but with this attitude come alot of
negative reprocusions...

It's not just you.
Prince has influenced me in so many ways, most of which isn't even a conscious effort.

But if U hadn't starting getting into Prince's music, would U say U were "acting like Prince"? Then who/what would U be acting like?

- wanting your drummer to be better is not unusual. It's expected if U want a better band.
- if U like splits, cool. It means U're limber.
- if U have no time for your non-music friends, it just means U're serious about your craft right now.
- your music teacher probably said that because if U've started to talk about Prince as much as U post on here, he can see how U've become into his music.


Bottom line: It's cool that U are digging Prince. I love when my students (around your age) tell me they want to hear more and I can share with them. But it seems like U're projecting: "I'm becoming like Prince."
Just be U and just chill.

I've kinda come down on band members for "phoning in" their playing that day.

I felt bad about it afterward, but what the hell, if you're not investing yourself in the music you're really just wasting everyone's time.

I liked that Prince was not affraid to be a asshole in order to
get what he wanted...

if he was not a asshole we would not be the demanding boss that he is.
exspecting perfection every time...The NPG is a tight unit. without
prince's iron fist...his live shows and music would not be as good as it is

yes... I agree. But Prince is a good blueprint...not saying copy his exact traights moves or mannerisms...but U know, steal a page from his book here and there...exspecialy when it comes to Prince's work ethic. Prince did kind of jack
