BIG BROTHER FANS

Anyone into CBS' BIG BROTHER?

I got into it during BB 9 with Evil Dick. I started just watching the Showtime After Dark shows, then realized I was hooked about 3 weeks in. I went back and watched all the regular shows I had missed, online. I was hooked after that.

Last year for BB10 I started a spoiler and more blog on Livejournal. This year the new blog is setup, but I'm still not feeling the motivation for it. It takes a LOT of work to keep up a blog, watching the live feeds, trying to type as fast as you're seeing stuff, PLUS keeping up on the blog itself with design, etc.

Anyway, anyone else watch it? We got about a month before it premieres.

Here's my past and present blogs for it:

I have been watching BB since BB1! Only took that one season to hook me! giggle I get live feeds so I can watch 24/7, I guess that makes me a BB nerd!

Been watching since the first one. Don't know if it's that good or there's nothing else on during the Summer. shrug

Big Brother has a decent opening game, a GREAT midgame, but a horrible endgame.

The point is to watch these people and judge them based on their actions and reactions to situations. By the time you get down to 6 housemates, everything is so predictable and the pace is plodding.

They need more incentive awards at the end of the year. Things like "Most weight lost" or something. Also, no air conditioning unless won by a physical challenge. Etc.

Other countries do better things like that. I remember Australia limiting the amount of hot water that could be used in the shower.

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

Is the hot Julie Chen still hosting, or is she on maternity leave?

She's promoting it in recent days. She accidentally let it slip how many people were going to be on the show this year in an interview. She said 10, but with the scheduling and the premiere date, and the date for some the Primetime Emmy's, some people think the show could just be nine weeks this time around. All conjecture of course. We shall see.

Evel Dick was Season 8.

There is NO bigger Big Brother fan than Yours Truly. hmph!

Watched most of 1, but 2 was the season that really got me hooked. My faves were 6, All-Stars, 2 and 8!

Oh, I so disagree.

I remember Australia limiting the amount of hot water that could be used in the shower.

The American house was deprived of hot water for a time in at least one of the seasons.

Season 9 with the couples were deprived of hot water. Seems like season 10 did as well.

And you're right about season 8. Not sure why I always think it's 9.

I love, love, love Big Brother! I've been watching since season 1. I wish they would go back to PB&J though. I think the slop is going too far. Season 6 is my absolute favorite. Kaysar & Janelle are my absolute favorite players.

Here is an important thing to understand about U.S. Big Brother

There are 4 ways to experience it:

1. Watch only the CBS produced show.
2. Watch the CBS produced show and watch Showtime After Dark
3. Subscribe to the Live Feeds, watch After Dark, and the CBS Show
4. Subscribe to the Live Feeds, watch After Dark, the CBS Show, and all the Youtube/Dailymotion postings

If you only watch the main show, and even to an extent the Showtime hours, you get the feeling that you're watching some sort of staged show. Like the Mtv show where parents have to pick new boy/girlfriends for their kid. Acting seems forced, dialogue seems taken out of context, etc.

If you at least get in on the Youtube fan postings, you REALLY start to get a feel for the actual tensions that go on in the house. People DO get on each other's nerves, and you have a better feel for how alliances are going to play out.

I thought last years show was pretty good. You need some backstabbing and hypocrisy. You want people coming away from the show with hurt feelings. (See Erica/Boogie/Will). But at one point, when it was Jun/Alison/Rob, I almost gave up on the show altogether. The venom that those girls spewed was disgusting.

Also, I almost gave up on the show with Boogie/Krista/Monica/Will. It was at that point I realized that CBS was hiring actual wannabe ACTORS with AGENTS who argued and cried for more screen time, threatened to just clam up and do nothing, etc. Especially compared to season 1 which had REAL people (but was a little boring at times).

That said, watching Dr. Will on Dr 90210 diagnose Boogie's Genital Warts was HILARIOUS and while I kinda felt bad for the guy, I thought hey... karma's a bitch.

Lotta truth here. I got hooked on BB8 because of the Showtime After Dark show. I'd never watched BB in my life, but found myself watching the BBAD stuff on Showtime just because. That got me hooked and I went back to watch the first two weeks of CBS shows I'd missed that season. I was hooked after that. I watched BB9 couples, and loved it, and then started my own BB10 blog. I watched the live feeds, Showtime, and CBS. CBS show really seemed to pale inn comparison to what you saw on the feeds and on After Dark. Things can certainly be edited differently. I explored ALL of that in my BB10 blog. I'm not sure I'm yet up for BB11 blogging. Yet.

I only watch the main show (love the editing/scoring, which is often hilarious!). It's never felt "staged" or "act(ed)" to me and I don't recall any talk that seemed out of context.

But, hey: any BB fan is a friend of mine! highfive

...Oh: I also watch House Calls!
