TOOLS of our LIVES. You NEED 'em Lawd!
OK, I've been up at my mom's place for a while now and prepping myself to move out. In doing so, I want to make sure everything in her house that's in her house that needs fixing is either fixed or replaces. That's alot of DIY projects considering her house is 30 years old. So, in the last 2 months I've replaced 2 toilet flush kits, a ceiling fan, a dripping faucet, an old doorknob, etc. etc. Nothing terribly major, but all requiring TOOLS. TOOLS she did NOT HAVE I don't want to open up a male vs female debate here, so please try to refrain from letting this thread go down that path. But is it normal to be a home owner and not own tools? EVEN very basic ones like electric screw drivers and wrench kits? It blows my mind how expensive it must be living this way and having to call for repairs on simple shit. Every time I've done a repair, she's always missing something, and I have to run to Home Depot to find the tool. (I admit, I love Home Depot, and it's like Christmas when I'm there ). But shit... All she has is scissors, string, and some yard tools. Hell, even her Lawnmower needed a wheel replaced and I had to go out and by a set of tools to do that . TOOLS yall. You need TOOLS. They ain't that expensive unless you want a routering kit or some crazy shit like that.

That's just it though. Why is it masculine to require tools. You need them. I'm not saying every woman on earth should be able to change the oil on her car or even replace a spare tire. But you always need tools, no?

I was kind of hoping you'd take some of the gas out of the lawnmower and light my genitals before jumping up and down on them. Do you consider 4 hours of begging to be foreplay?

My husband is a manager at the local Home Depot. I swear it is like he is a mini celebrity wherever we go. We get stopped at stores, parties, walking down the street...

But you always need tools, no? Because women are raised to be helpless and dependent. So we consider it unfeminine and unattractive for women to be able to take care of simple things in her home. Ex-Moderator | I have screwdrivers and a hammer. And a needle-nosed pliers. That's it. I've never needed anything else.
I've changed my own tire many, many times too. |
