PMDD motherfucker (Women, I need your help.) So every month I go crazy.
This never used to happen to me. But suddenly I'm over-emotional, over-sensitive, and downright psychotic right before my period. Meaning, I start believing things that I know are not true, and I start having the craziest thoughts. Does this happen to anyone else? I already take herbs at the beginning of my cycle each month (Chaste tree berry, evening primrose oil, ginger, red raspberry leaf, St. John's Wort) but they're not really taking care of it. I don't eat meat and I drink organic milk, so it's not factory-farm hormones. And I'm really against going on artificial hormones like the birth control pill. Do any of you chicks experience this, and have you found ways to make it stop?? [Edited 4/2/09 22:04pm] The Normal Whores Club

I don't experience it. My solution was I got my ovaries ripped out.

Due to these issues? Or you mean you never experienced it? The Normal Whores Club

Due to these issues? Or you mean you never experienced it? I meant I don't experience it now cause I don't have the female parts anymore. I had endometriosis. It became unbearable. I had a laparoscopic surgery and it was determined by my gyno and myself that my best option was a full hysterectomy and oopherectomy (ovary removal). I am on HRT now because of my age, but I am so glad I did it. It was the right choice for me. I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I hope you find something that works for you.

It seems to have started when I moved in with Chris. Maybe I just didn't know before. The Normal Whores Club

Do you have any adverse effects from taking hormones? None that I notice. I had it done when I was 32 so my doctor didn't think it was a good idea not to take the hormones. I still need the estrogen. Everything seems to be fine.

I hear so many horror stories, especially among natural-hippie-type people, about taking hormones. Thanks for sharing a different perspective. The Normal Whores Club

It's funny that you say that. I was watching Oprah ( ) a few days ago and she was also talking about bio-identical hormones. Trying to do some research about this now. As for my periods, there are times that I don't have any syptoms but there are also times that I go crazy emotional, irritated, irrational, etc. But to be honest I never went to see a doctor about (well once and I got something but when I read the discription I refused to take it).. So I have no real advice for you just wanted to share. Hope you will get some good advice

I get really down on the day I ovulate. Things seem out of proportionally BAD to me, like everything. Nothing seems good on those days.

I never got migraines until about 6 months after I got married. I used to say that I was allergic to my ex.

he must have made you really stressed Yep. We're just two really different people with really different life perspectives. Don't ask me why we got married. If I had all the answers I wouldn't be in this damn mess.

nah ...never noticed any mood swings thank god Well at least Chris can take solace in that! "Look honey, at least I'm not a bitch all month like Ocean!" My beautiful husband, he just kind of plants his feet and puts his head down and tries to weather the storm. And takes care of the kids when I go to bed at 6:30 PM only to be awake at 2:00 AM. Help me help him! The Normal Whores Club

Other days we might be more tolerant, but THAT day, we really REALLY wonder why we have to put up with everyone else's shit I put the energy to good use by doing all my debt collecting and oven cleaning then.

I think I need a Red Tent like in the book.
But instead of rich draperies and shit, it'll be like a pup tent from Target with a sleeping bag and some pot inside. The Normal Whores Club

Ah, the old lesbian-feminist theory of PMS. Not making fun of you, I've just heard that analysis before and don't necessarily agree. I like being a compassionate person who sacrifices for others, as I know others are sacrificing for me all the time. It's good that you channel the energy positively though! You don't know crazy until you've cried over not having the ingredients to make a ham sandwich. Been there, done that. Got over it in 2.2 seconds when an episode of Friends came on. And I always think 'thank goodness no one's around. People would really start to think I'm a wackadoo.' Shake it til ya make it
