Who watches the Watchmen? Anyone getting excited? I'm re-reading the book for the 800th time in preparation, though that will probably, ultimately, lessen my enjoyment of the film, having the original masterpiece at the forefront of my memory.
I'm very nervous. My only hope is that it doesn't suck. If it doesn't, then I will be in heaven. I know for a fact that it will NOT live up to the book. But that said, I really can't wait til Friday. I'm on pins and needles. I haven't been this excited for a superhero movie (maybe any movie) since the first X-Men in 2000.

excited, yes.... but read newsweek's review, and it wasn't positive
my newest sctipt involves comics, and mentions alan moore as a cultural reference.... love love LOVE watchmen, but am trying to keep expectations on the movie low. dvd already has an hour of deleted footage (including the squid and the inner comic, according to EW), and will be better than theatrical release Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. - Lord Acton

I'm stoked for this flick. I'm a bit concerned it won't live up to the hype though, or that they'll dumb down the storyline for movie audiences.
But more than that, I'm bummed that I have to work all weekend so I can't see it opening night. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

i identify with night owl I really wish I had someone in Watchmen with whom I could identify. Laurie ain't it though. I had a hard time with her contempt, for lack of a better word, for her mother. Night Owl felt the most like a real person to me though. Sorta makes me think of one of my uncles. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I identify with the fat bastard eating.
My excitement is waning. The longer I have to think of the story, the more convinced I am that it won't adapt well to the big screen. I wanted my wife to read it first, but you can't find the GN anywhere lately. You know damn well I'm not opening the mylar so she can read the actual issues.

I'm going to see it tonight and am excited with reservations. I've avoided reading any reviews but I still have some trepidation. I mean, it's a Zach Snyder film, so that should make anyone a little nervous--300 was hardly visionary. (It was maybe an interesting direction for gay porn, but that's about it.) Plus, the cast is way too hot for the characters they're playing, which seems an important point for adapting a book like Watchmen.
Even so, I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes and I'm really hoping for the best. This could be great.

The trailers look really promising. Unfortunately the movie doesn't open in Denmark until 30 March. But I'm getting excited already.
I plan to re-read the comic book series after having seen the movie. Don't want to do it before, because it's been so many years since lasst I read it, that I only barely recall the story, and I want the movie to surprise me. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

I've never read it. I really should, as I want to before I see it and I'm running out of time. |

I hope they can do justice to this book.
But the book itself is like a great movie, so I am not sure they can duplicate it properly. My Legacy

Very excited - but hesitant.
Best book ever. However, 300 was NOT the best movie. Not by a long shot. So I am hesitant.
