Do people really get confused about love vs. lust, though? They're so utterly different.

Lust turns to Hate ... people who lust you, don't like you...they only like what you can do for them, and that's it... if they can't have their way with you, they end up hating you.... cause it was only about lust to begin with.. nothing more..

awwww... comfort

Maybe it's different for boys. I mean, they can certainly exist hand-in-hand (and that's the most preferable!) but to me, lust has nothing to do with love.

I think lust is purely sexual, love is a connection with a person.

Some would say there's sexual love, but I kind of disagree. I just happen to lust for the woman that I love. Sex is just another connection that can help to strengthen love.

I've never just lusted after anyone without loving them a bit too. I'm always hearing about people lusting after someone they hate and saying the sex is electrifying when sparks fly. I've hated people, well, maybe I haven't really confuse and usually that cancels out any attraction. Also I've never lusted after a stranger hmmm
Personally I've not been able to separate the 2, though I am sure others can do it.

yeah I've never lusted after someone I've hated. They're connected for me in that they're both positive feelings for someone.

I think infatuation gets confused with love, and infatuation is very tied to lust.

Not for me. To me they're all 3 separate entities. I suppose we're all different. I'm more apt to confuse love and infatuation than infatuation with lust. I think I'm not a very sexual person, all things considered. I can totally be infatuated with someone and the sex stuff is just icing on the cake. I'll daydream about hanging out with someone, giggling with them, blah blah blah way before I even think about the sex stuff when I'm smitten with someone.

Really? Yeah, that's very different from my experience. Infatuation and lust are always completely overlapping for me. And I don't generally become infatuated with somebody whom I won't eventually fall in love with if things go well. So I can see the confusion.

Your way sounds much more tidy. I'm kinda jealous.

Co-sign! highfive In fact, it was normally AFTER the sexual hijinks that I realized the spark just wasn't there in most cases....and if it was, then the luv started creeping into it...until the contenders weeded themselves out, and I ended up married....

Tooootally. highfive

Yeah, there's a loop for me between sexual chemistry and infatuation. If it's not there, it'll kill the infatuation. If it is, it'll send it through the roof.

The warm-n-fuzzy attachment part of love is generated by chemicals that occur in response to a few things, the biggies being orgasms and laughter. It's a wonder to me that anybody really falls in love without having some sort of sexual experience, but I guess if the person is funny enough? lol

IMHO, the fact that divorce rates are through the roof and have been for a while is the sole justification for people to explore their sparks BEFORE they tie the knot...conversely, if the sex IS the spark, ya might want to slow that thing down a bit so that the lust isn't confused for love...I see young Soldiers getting married after two months....then going through ugly, messy divorces less than a year later because they realize that living with one person on a permanent basis isn't quite the same as freaky sex.... lol
