I ~heart~ THE CITY of EMBER (Recommend a movie others may have not seen)

admit it. 'm a sucker 4 some child-centric movies (Golden Compass, Narnia, Harry Potter, etc.). Which is 1 of the reasons I agreed 2 go C this movie 2night.

It's just another post-apocolyptic movie that takes place sometime in the near future. The human race has launched an all out nuclear war and in order 2 protect future generations, several lucky folks R sent deep inside the earth's crust 2 an artificial city called Ember. The city is powered by a generator that is designed 2 last 200 years, at which point it should be safe 4 humans 2 come back up 2 the surface of the planet and repopulate it.


The story takes place after the 200 years is over, and somehow the instructions, along with all memories of the planet before it R lost.
2 children, realizing that Ember is dying decide 2 embark upon an adventure 2 escape from Ember.

It's a theme 've seen done several times in books, etc. etc.
BUt this movie is rather charming. It evokes a certain childhood lust 4 aventure in me. found myself really enjoying the entire thing, including Bill Murray's genius character (the mayor of Ember).

I actually was really intrigued by the trailer. Perhaps after my visit to urgent care today, I'll go check it out.

I'm OK. My tonsils are taking up most of my throat and have spots on them. I figured it would go away with rest and liquids and such, but it hasn't. I have a cough and am all stuffed up, so I didn't think it was strep just a cold or virus or whatever, but it's unusual for it to last this long (today is day 6). So now I should probably get some antibiotics.
I hate going to the doctor. It's far too expensive.

awww... Thanks. I've actually been watching it all week on youtube. The entire series and both movies are there, carefully disguised from a regular search. ( ) I'm on season 5, most of which I haven't seen before.

And yes, I will totally be seeking asylum in a few weeks if things don't go well.

I finished them all last week. Nice trip down memory lane.

I'd love to believe the polls but I don't think it's all wrapped up yet. Between election fraud and unspoken racism in some of the swing states, it wouldn't hurt to have your bags packed.
And if civil war breaks out, don't connect to Dublin through Boston - two million people will not fit on the one plane.

Now if you only knew someone 10 mins from the airport with a spare room...

In truth, I went to watch it as a collaborative effort amongst friends to choose a movie we could all agree on. I wanted to see "The Dutches", but that was just too gay to win out.
