I wouldn't describe him as "negative" so much as "disenchanted". neutral

lol

Is there any way you could use neutral in a post without it coming across as negative? Even slightly positive? It's not like changing your mind from using, say mad , to using neutral , really makes a difference.

I was feeling kind of neutral about this comment, but now that Mr. Neutral Emoticon's expression has been called into question, I'm actually a little bummed. neutral

Well, he's apathetic isn't he? I guess by definition then he's neither negative or positive, hence neutral, but apathy is quite often regarded as a negative thing, is it not?

I like apathy. neutral

It felt very much like sarcasm. lol

That's why the emoticon is so great. It can do sarcasm, apathy, even portray boredom, but most importantly, expertly conveys derision. woot!

I don't read "apathy" either. I see Thoreau's "quiet desperation". neutral

I make that face in real life A LOT
when I do it it usually represents:

We can go here rolleyes for derision, but this guy is sometimes even better at it neutral

Although, the closer I look at his eyebrows (which aren't symmetrical), the more I see the exasperation you're talking about.

hmmm

The more I look the more forlorn he appears, but at a quick glance I instantly think

derision neutral

Unless, of course, he feels no anger (only pity - both for himself and the person who's caused his consternation)? neutral

Indeed. boff

It's just that at the moment though. The 'real' trying will start on our return from the UK after Xmas. Then it'll be fun AND purposeful. Right now it's just for fun. giggle

That's it exactly. If he were truly neutral, one of his brows wouldn't be downturned.

Who are ya kiddin', Mr. "Neutral"? rolleyes
