Question for men who like tomboys Please explain why?
This is a serious question. I got into a conversation with my boys this weekend about different types of women we like. One of them seems to go for the "rough around the edges" type. He likes a pretty face, but he thinks it's pure bliss that he can be with a woman with a pretty face, but acts like one of his male friends. I personally don't get it. I like a girl or acts like a girl. His last girlfriend was pretty much a dude. She looked like a girl, but always had her hair pulled back, no makeup, and talked, dressed, and sometimes walked like a dude. She was into everything he was into. I guess that's perfect for him. I mean, I don't expect a woman to always be "done up" but damn, I like a little effort every now and then So as we were talking another friend was kinda agreeing with him and how he thnks women like that are cool. I've seen other guy's on the street with girls like that, but I only know one guy personally like that. So, I want to know if there are any other guys here who dig these type of women and why? Under certain circumstances, urgent circumstances, desperate circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer.

It's the ultimate narcissism. They love themselves so much but obviously can't fuck themselves so they look for themselves with a vagina.

Do you mean a chick that looks like a dude and phsically just acts like one or do you mean a chick with a personality typically considered male?

Sounds like you'd already made a judgment about her just from having her hair pulled back/interests She probably didn't walk like a dude at all. Not all women wear makeup, & sometimes having our hair down is annoying.
& define "dressed like a dude" - do you mean she just didn't wear skirts or heels or some shit? Personally I don't get the tomboy thing b/c all the dumb girly shit we get to do is fun to me (but I'm not overboard w/ mine, that's annoying too). Some women just like to be comfortable & low maintenance, let her be. Why do YOU have to understand it? You're not fucking her

I'm kinda a tomboy, but I'm very much attracted to guys. I used to wear baggy clothes, but that was when I was in high school and junior high. I like to wrestle and play sports...not really watch, but play it. I can be girly too...wear makeup sometimes..heels. I don't act like a man...that would be creepy. no offense. Looks like he was mostly talking about their physical appearance and the only thing he mentioned about her personality, she was into everything he was, doesn't even sound like an issue to me.

If by "tomboy" you mean someone who's not all girly-girly, then I've certainly dug that, from time to time.
But, I'm not into "mannish" women or "hard" women, by any stretch. Like Alicia Keyes. She's cute and all, but she comes off like a dude. Wouldn't work for me. Meanwhile, take a plain-era Natalie Merchant, Sinead O'Connor, or Juliette Binoche -- who all succeed at telegraphing toughness and vulnerability -- and I'm snagged. Constance Zimmer, who played Penny on "Good Morning Miami" is a good example of that type. (Yes, I know how sad it is that I flashed on that character.) These days, the "tomboy" tv crown is ably worn by Cote de Pablo...

She was basically a man with a vagina. Her mannerism and the way she spoke, she wore baggy pants and oversized shirts, she walked like a dude in an aggresive way. And I said earlier, I don;t care if a woman doesn't wear make up, my girl doesn't always wear makeup, but she knows how to look appropriate for an occasion and she cleans up very well. But this girl was so mannish that lesbians would hit on her all the time and she had the nerve to get pissed about it [Edited 6/23/08 16:44pm] Under certain circumstances, urgent circumstances, desperate circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer.

The girl I'm talking about is definitely an Alicia Keys type (before the makeover). We brought Alicia up in the conversation.
