Movie: 10,000 B.C and Apocalypto

I just finsished watching 10,000 B.C last night. It was basically the same movie was Apocalypso. That was disappointing.

Did anyone else see both of these flicks?

I have NO desire to see either. Apocalypto, at least seems to be "authentic" and has some thought behind it. 10,000 BC looks like it's big screen garbage (as are all of his films). I mean the people speak english have huge civilizations and "technology" I don't think existed in that day and age. Also the whole big back in the day battle movies like The 300, Gladiator, Troy etc. are so so played out.

lol.....it looks like the writer of 10,000 watched Apocalypto, changed a few scenes and wrote his own version of the movie. Very weak.

Well that's Michael Emerich for you. I fail to see why his movies do all that well. You HAVE to unplug your brain just to watch them. I realize it's all about the "Scope" of it all and he gives images that are pretty awesome, but the plots and dialog are pretty stupid at best. I mean they are speaking english in 10,000 BC right?

I remember seeing the first trailor wondering how he'd be able to mess it up and he's NOT a thinking persons type of director. Then I saw the 2nd trailor and the characters were speaking English and I went "Oh so that's how he's going to mess it up".

I have no desire to see any of his movies anymore and I am alsmost the same with Michael Bay, who at least has "better films" but cannot shoot an action sequence to save his life.

I hear you. The entire movie was very POORLY executed and the actors were 3rd rate at best. There were some nice visuals but that's about it.

It was still interesting. (conceptually at least.)

yeah, that's what i meant. on a technical level, i'm sure it's a quality movie. it just seems like ol' mel likes to turn the squeam-o-meter up to 11, and i really don't need to look at that kind of mess. barf

It could not have been as good as Apocalypto.

I have no interest in 10,000 B.C.

I haven't watched either movie, so my next comment is random...

The other night I was watching a Disney movie and was reminded of a cute kid. I wondered if he was still acting so I googled him.

He was one of the main characters in 10,000 B.C.!!!!

What was WILD to me is how little I recognized him. In 10,000 B.C. it's understandable because of the costuming, but IRL eek It was like 2 completely different young men.

That is all....

My wife and I watched it last night on DVD....she fell asleep...I watched it only because I'd gotten about halfway before I figured out that it was crap...and I couldn't get past the fact that folks were speaking english...pretty damned good english, actually....and by the time it got to the part with the pyramid builders, I just kept wondering why were some folks speaking the queen's english and why others needed subtitles....made no damned sense...

At least in Apocalypto, they were speaking a native tongue...

just give me "300 abs" and Gladiator any day over these two...

The English thing was wierd but I prefer that. I wanted Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto both 2 be in English. Sub-titles are a big distraction.

The ONLY movie I really enjoyed that had sub-titles was that Mexican flick....I 4get the name.

I can dig that...but I love historical aspect/period movies, so the subtitles don't bug me so much...to me, it lends a bit of "authenticity" to the movie....besides, if all of the characters were speaking english it wouldn't have aggravated me so much...
