What did you think of PLANET TERROR/DEATHPROOF?

Finally watched them-prefered deathproof by a mile yet would have imagined i would have loved planet of terror-yup it was smart, funny, quirky but strangely i just found it a wee bit too boring-which surprised me cos give me a machine toting one legged flesh eating zombie ass kicking film and i should be in cinematic heaven!

but i found deathproof realy enjoyable-who'd have ever guessed those films would have bomber so badly!!

maybe the lack of commercial success adds to the whole grindhouse thing lol!

i thought planet terror was great dumb fun. it would be a good double feature with "snakes on a plane".

i thought "deathproof" was more self-indulgent quentin tarantino crapola. hated it.

When I think of those movies I think of the person I watched them with and the awesome sex we had after the movies were over.

I also think of that ugly-hot chick getting her face destroyed by the tire.

This was the best time i'd had at the movies in YEARS.
Me and my best friend saw this at the theater between us 12 times.

We just started dragging friends to it.

Classic Tarantino, Classic Rodriguez.

And the trailers!!!!!

Deathproof has a few great scenes but overall it´s
unforgivably boring and the dialogue is so irritating.
it´s the first QT movie I don´t like

I haven´t watched Planet Terror yet.

I don't get all of the disappointment with Death Proof?
If you've ever watched a Tarantino flick, it's classic form!
The dialogue is trememdous! The buildup is slow and painstaking, but the payoff is so freaking good!!!!! The first accident? Classic?

And the ending?
It's a total chick revenge flick!

Sorry, i loved both of these movies to pieces.

Yeah loved both!

I love 80's horror and zombie films, so planet terror ticked all the right boxes!!!

I also love revenge, and powerful aggressive women, so the whole second half of Death Proof just rocked. not that there was anything wrong with the first half as it set the build up of how effective the impact of the second story had!!!

What with the trailers - a good package all round!!!

Obviously, as with anything you could pick holes in it - but the film is no where near as bad as the critics would have you want to believe!!! biggrin

Sorry. Personally i love chicks talking. If they're hot, even better. Sydney Portier? HOT. Rosario Dawson? HOT. Hell, all of those chicks were hot!

Yeah, they were hot but all the talking irritated me. And the gratuitous use of the N word? Why?

i like chicks talking in 'sex and the city'. i liked chicks talking on 'cagney & lacey'. but these are shows where chicks talking are kind of integral to the whole point of the show. chicks talking in 'death proof' had precious little to do with the storyline, and it just bogged things down so QT could share some more of his precious pop culture obsessions with the audience. that schtick is so boring. start a blog to talk about your little musical fascinations. quit thinking we want to hear about it in your movies. hmph!

I liked them both. The really are 2 different beasts.

Death Proof is a lot slower and more dialogue driven as is Tarantinos style. It was also more creepier. The crazy scenes are few and far inbetween but when they happen it's a rollercoaster ride! The end part where that chick ties herself to the hood of the car was plain crazy!

Planet terror is simply a new take on a Zombie Movie. Lots more action and way more gory, which made it a lot of fun. Rose McGowan had a great part.

I do have to say that while decent, I don't see the point of doing these movies. Clearly not either of their best work. They aren't bad and I say are worth seeing. Just don't live up to the hype.

They really ought to have released these separately and as a double feature.

love both.

Planet Terror was the one I liked better at first. It got the more immediate reaction. After a few viewings, I'd say Death Proof is the one I like more now. It never fails to get the adrenaline pumping, whereas once you've seen Planet Terror a few times, the jokes are less funny (obviously). Of course Rose McGowan with a machine gun leg is something I was waiting for my entire life, but I just didn't know it until I saw it. nod

I thought it had a Faster Pussycat feel to it. That was a lot of talking amongst chicks...abeit no Tura Satanta though.

Yeah. I liked the theater version better. On the DVD, the only thing added was MORE TALKING (rolleyes) ... and a lap dance. It's the one I favor of the two, but all the talking pushes me to the edge.

I sure didn't see them when I rented deathproof.
AND both dont come on the same dvd/packaging. you have to buy them seperate.
So Im waiting, hoping they come out with everything, trailers and both movies in one package before I buy it.

Planet Terror has at least one trailer. Machete?

the version of Death Proof that I rented didn't have the trailers that aired between the films.

but they might be on the double disc? i don't know. they were by different directors, so that may be why they aren't included.

Yeah, this irritated me too. I just rented them because they were missing most of the trailers. They should be released the way the were shown at the theaters.

That Thanksgiving clip was fucked up...
