was it in a restaurant ?
home cooking from your Mother ?
kfc bargain bucket?

- My grandmother from Barcelona, everything she made was so freakin' delicious. Her paëlla with lots of huge langoustines she cooked alive and the fresh mussels she bought from a fisherman at the beach that morning and all the other seafood that was in it drooling I really miss her AND her food! So many garlic in everything, yum. Garlic rules.

- My wedding meal was at a michelin star restaurant (he lost 1 star just two weeks before) and you just taste that, all courses and wine were more than excellent.

- Twice in Paris. One by accident, some restaurant which had great food, great French cheese and the most fresh oisters I've ever tasted. And one on top of the centre Pompidou, the sun was shining, nice rosé wine and again great fresh fish, lots of vegetables with it and a superb salad.

- In Nice, a seafood restaurant, it still haunts me after so many years, delicious fish, just delicious.

The bad thing with having tasted great food is that you will always make comparisons. I don't eat much out but if I do I'm always nagging. Quality sucks mayor, even at expensive restaurants.

It was in November 1998 at a bed and breakfast in Snoqualmie, Washington, where they filmed "Twin Peaks." I was getting ready to move to Detroit and so my best friend Hillari and I went on a road trip up to Snoqualmie to take in some "Peaks" sightseeing and have one more adventure before I moved.

We stayed at this bed and breakfast which was owned by a five-star French chef and his staff of handsome French Canadian young men (Hillari was sooooo in love by the time the night was over!). The meal that night at dinner was simply incredible. We had escargot, duck prepared with some exotic Europeon spice, etc. It was simply amazing. I'll never forget the dessert--rum raisin tart.

God, that was almost 10 years ago...

Oh Mr Mutts, Bobby Van's is to die for cloud9

My Mama made the very best southern food. She's from Tennessee and she could cook with the best of them. She's too ill now to cook anymore. I miss it.
I DO have the knack for making her barbecue sauce. It's the best ever. drool

My friend's wedding. He is one of the best asado chefs in the country. He brought his teacher to cook the asado at his wedding. There were 200 guests and about 600 lbs of meat. That meat literally melted in your mouth. It was soooo good. Best meal ever.

Another great meal I had was at my grandfather's 80th birthday. I think we were there for 5-6 hours, and about 10 course meal. The best of the best. drooling

My Mother cooked the best food I ever tasted, she made the simplist dishes taste delicious. Beyond her, I would say I love almost any dish with shrimp or salmon in it.

Wow, this is very hard. I've had some wonderful meals over the years, but a few that come to mind are:

Gaylords - on the island of Kauai - Lobster dinner and many other nice things
Ruth Chris - medium rare steak - best ever
Indian food at a friends. It was the best and most Indian food I've ever eaten
Italy - the food is awesome anywhere you go

Mmmmmm - now I'm hungry!!

They just opened a Ruth's Chris Steak House here in Santa Barbara a few months back. I have not been because I was told it is really pricey, I'll have to splurge someday.

Yes, it is pricey, but if it's for a special occasion then I highly recommend it. I had the best, juiciest steak ever. It was $42 and worth every mouthful.

Bouley Bakery is open and they have the restaurant upstairs, which is good.
They also own Danube on Hudson Street - one of the best meals I had recently.
the chef brought out extra appetizers for me and my guest, and the service was excellent.
I think they suspected I was their mystery evaluator that night, which I was, and they were damn near polishing my shoes.

$42 was for my steak. My husbands was over $50 because he just had to have the filet mignon. Our bill was almost $200, but it was for our anniversary. It was excellent!!!
