Billy here, I'm good. I normally stay late at work on Wednesday and go to football practice from work. I'm on that bridge heading to bloomington from roseville during that time. I stayed last yesterday again, but I went to our company BBQ in Roseville.

All is well. I'm giving blood today during lunch, just trying to do something to help.
I'm glad you're safe Billy. hug

Thoughts with Minni folks. This is surreal.

Do they know the cause yet?

No. At least I don't think they've said anything more about it. It will probably be a while until they find out I would think.

On the news last night they were estimating it could take months to investigate to find the cause. There are no "smoking guns". The construction they wee doing on the bridge was just surface work. No joint or structural work, so it is highly unlikely related. Or so was said anyway...

i heard that on the radio this morning. i heard the lawyer respresenting the crew doing the work on the bridge. he was making it very clear that they were doing no steele, joint or structural work.

but then i also heard on the radio that findings in the inspection of the bridge in 2004 reccommended the bridge be replaced. although the 2005 and 2006 inspections did not make that reccomendation.

the police department is currently treating this as a crime scene. mpld pd chief dolan said there is just no way to rule anything in or out at this time.

there are going to be lots of questions. and this is going to be a long process.

i am so glad that everyone i know is ok.

my heart goes out to anyone who is involved or has family/freinds involved.

Oh my gosh! I can't believe it. I travel that road everyday to go to work. I haven't been taking it lately because of the road construction. I've been taking 94 to 280 to go north but going home I take 35W south. I could have easily been on it.

My prayers are with all those injured and with those who have passed. What a tragedy!

glad u're safe. hug

Thankyou Madartista! hug

This looks like a combination of metal fatigue of the truss, weight from cars/road materials and years of wear and tear.

I'm glad everyone who frequents the Org seems to have not been involved in the catastrophe and are all safe. grouphug

I live about an hour and a half drive southeast of Minneapolis, so fortunately I don't go along that stretch of road too often. I think the last time was maybe early December. Still, I don't know if I'll ever feel safe again driving across some of those bridges in the Twin Cities. At least the ones I do have to drive across and under in the Rochester area are either fairly new or brand new.

Robbinsdale is a suburb on the other side of the city, not near the site at all. Phone lines are fine today, you can give anyone a call you like.
