If you love March madness Ncaa basketball! Holla! today is the day! I'm rooting for UCLA, but my underdog is Long Beach State!

I knew my Gamecocks didn't stand a chance of making it, so I'm pulling for the Tarheels. More importantly....I just don't want Duke to win. mad I hope they get put out in the first round. hah! 6th seed. For the most part these games have been pretty boring. That Kansas/Texas one was pretty good. The Duke/NC State one was pretty good evillol Of course that one was good. mr.green The Kentucky/Miss State one was pretty good towards the end. As usual my bracket will most likely suck this year. lol

For pure entertainment, I'd love to see Ohio State (Oden) go against Texas (Durant)...but this year its a Gator-peat!!! I want Duke to get mauled....I HATE DUKE!!! There is an excellent article on ESPN.com profiling the 10 most hated Dukies.....required reading for anyone who knows about the Duke conspiracy to rule the world..... razz

Overall....my brackets will suck also....disbelief

I'm in! Since I work for a gov't institution we can't have pools at work confused , but one of my contractors is running one so I just faxed her 2 brackets and I have 4 on espn.com. biggrin

I don't get to watch as much bball as I'd like so there was a lot of guessing for me this year.

I hate Duke too! highfive I predict Kansas will choke, as usual. But other than that it was a crap shoot. lol I have a soft spot for SIU b/c my undergrad was in their same conference (Missouri Valley)...and the Hoyas for some reason. shrug
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

It always bugs me that this tournament generates millions, but the cats doing the actual work don't get a cut. Coaches, school presidents, network broadcasters all have phat wallets. But giving a kid money so he can go home and visit his folks is considered a no-no. I love the NCAA hypocrisy - amateur athletics my ass.

Well you should read the article on ESPN.com discussing the grad rates for some of the big money schools with teams in the tournament...that should get your feathers even more ruffled.....

and I am in total agreement with you....and I also agree with what Bobby Knight, as fucked up as it may be for me, when he decries how wrong it is for these schools to recruit guys that they know are only going to play for a season...and barely attending a half semester's worth of classes....on their way to the pros.....the schools have no intention to even attempt helping these players get a decent education.....

I had an Anthropology class with a couple of football players at USC(Carolina), and those boys had someone walking by the room to make sure they were in class everyday. falloff They didn't seem to have an interest in the class. One incident was kinda funny when the prof. called one of them out for not paying attention. She was the type of professor who really didn't give a damn about athletic status. lol

its good that there are some profs that will hold a STUDENTs feet to the fire, regardless of athletic status....unfortunately, there aren't nearly enough....

....of course, I probably would have been called out right along with them.... lol

I went to a community college when I was stationed in upstate NY and I got kicked out of my International Relations class during a class discussion because one of my classmates referred to Arabs as Ragheads....and I didn't take it very well..... lol
