"Starsky & Hutch" or "Zoolander"???? I've been having a very, uh, indepth conversation with a few friends about which movie is better:
"Starsky & Hutch" or "Zoolander"? What do you think? "You could say I'm a terminal case/You could burn up my clothes/Smash up my ride...well, maybe not the ride"

Zoolander is far more re-watchable. I loved Starsky & Hutch at the cinema but haven't been able to sit through it all in one go since then.

Oh, I think Starsky & Hutch is far funnier and more watchable than Zoolander. Z is just so put-on and silly and dumb. Also the Will Farrell character in Starsky, though stupid, is far less annoying than what he did in Zoolander.
I think I may start my own thread, Which Will Farrell character annoys you the least? My vote is for Darin in I Dream of Jeanie - not a bad movie.

I've only seen each once (and the true test is repetition), but I think Starsky & Hutch was funnier. My Legacy

I honestly don't understand why Will Ferrell is such a huge star in America. He pops up in all these films and is usually the single thing that ruins them.
... and people worship his Saturday Night Live stuff. I love me a bit of SNL, but apart from Roxbury (stolen by Chris Kattan and whoever they had guesting) and Celebrity Jeopardy (where Will didn't have anything to do but read a script while the others took over), he's totally useless.

It's because he chooses movies that prorbably would not be made had he not done them. Most of his movies, whether you like them or not are quite original. Elf was great...IMO. I forgot about Elf. It was pretty good too - probably because he was playing against James Caan, who kind of scares me.

He's really funny, but he's a bit like Chris Rock. It doesn't always translate in films. And maybe he hasn't held up for 2 hours yet. But his sketches are what saved SNL the last time, beginning with the cheerleaders, the music teachers, the club guys, the cowbell, Jeopardy (you're right, though, that's all about Sean Connery). Of that cast, he was the first star. Someone else talked about why SNL alums make such bad movies (I think it was Jon Lovitz). And it's mostly about control. They lose a lot of control over their characters and simply play roles more in films, subject to the director's decisions. My Legacy

Zoolander.
even though it was more stupid than funny, it's a movie that i can't resist not watching when it comes on tv. I love the part when Billy Zane announces that there's going to be a "Walk Off" I didn't like the Starksy and Hutch movie. Especially Marty and Bobbi Culp - the music teachers. And Alex Trebek - hilarious. I was all set for some Will Ferrell hatin'. But really, he pretty much only sucks in movies.

I still don't get it. I've seen most of those sketches and he's usually partnering up with someone else in them, and they're the funnier ones.

There are just so many funny moments in Zoolander:
The orgy with the Finnish dwarves Derek and Hans in "disguise" just using the make-up compact The files "in" the computer Breakdance fighting The walk-off with David Bowie David Duchovny's cameo Derek going home with the montage of him working in the mine with Vince Vaughn and Jon Voight The Merman commercial Everything at the beginning with the VH-1 Fashion awards, particularly the Hans video introduction I even prefer Dodgeball to Starsky & Hutch.
