Detroit Tigers return to World Series after 22 Years Stand up and be proud. History in the making. The Tigers are off to the World Series after a 22-year absence!
Magglio Ordonez drilled a two-out three-run home run over the left field fence to give Detroit a 6-3 victory and ALCS four-game series sweep over the Oakland Athletics. Good luck on getting tickets. WORLD SERIES tickets go on sale Monday. Now the Tigers can relax and condition for SIX days and wait out the winner of the National League Championship Series against the NY Mets and St. Louis Cardinals. This is just what Detroit and Michigan needs right now. Congrats to the Tigers! Sit back and relax and soak it all in. One for the history books. (and selflish TheDetroitCrawl.Org plug ... )And imagine this ... whoever the Tigers face, be it the NY Mets or the St. Louis Cardinals, come Saturday night, Oct. 28, we could be partying in the streets of Motown as well as partying for free that night inside Buzz bar. That's the same night as The Detroit Crawl's WWPD Night at Buzz Bar -- 10pm - 2am. Come out and party with your fellow motor babies as the Motor City is on top of the sports world once again. Wear your best midnight blue and burnt orange as we witness history. Butterskotchpimp, Dj Ben Beverly and Adam will be out there in full force. Will U?

[bump]
Anyone got anything to say? American League Central dominates once again! It would be quite cool if the Tigers play the Mets, the other New York team. Wonder what Yankees fans think of this?

PANDEMONIUM!!
I didnt get to sleep until after 2 this morning! Last night was a dream come true. Tears of joy flowed down my cheek. It was 22 years ago to the day that the Tigers won their last WORLD SERIES. I was 5 years old. I remember those close to me that were Tigers fans who are no longer with us. This one is for them! The scene throughout the city was absolutely beautiful. Strangers hugging each other, young and old, every race, and background. The party didnt stop until the wee hours. Kid Rock gave an impromtu concert at Cheli's across from Comerica. It was historic and surreal. That homerun by Magglio was like something you only dream of. This city is always hungry for a celebration and it looks like its feeding time again! Aint no party like a Detroit Party! WORLD SERIES BABY!! [Edited 10/15/06 6:03am]

Does Cardinals have it in them? Do the Mets? Does Detroit care? The Tigers will be refreshed and loaded after a six-day rest, ready to go. On the other hand the Cards or Mets will have only, just about, one day of rest to get to Detroit to face the Tigers. Heck, whoever comes out and wins the NLCS won't really get to savor the champagne before boarding a charter flight to the Motor City.

Cards a nice story, but will be overmatched by Tigers
Understandably, there is talk of a miracle in St. Louis now. But there is talk of destiny in Detroit, too. And no one should blame them for that. The Tigers’ regular season was fabulous, their postseason even better. Their path has started to resemble that of the 2005 White Sox. There isn’t any reason to think the AL is ready to abdicate. The NL entry hasn’t won a World Series game since 2003, and there isn’t any compelling reason to think they will win four games this time. My cardinal rule when the leagues are in a period where one’s dominating the other: stick with the superior league. As for the teams, this looks like a mismatch. The Tigers have the best starting rotation in baseball, and it isn’t even close. They have two lights-out relief pitchers, and neither one of them is even their closer. Plus, they have power threats from the top to the very bottom of the lineup. The last three hitters in the Tigers lineup all hit at least 25 home runs. Top to bottom, they can overpower anyone. Nothing sweeter than knocking the king off of his self-proclaimed mountain. (Insert something clever here)
