Cheap vacations

I need a freaking vacation! But I'm mostly broke. confused

We've been thinking about taking a road trip, but we are not sure where to go and with the cost of gas i'm not even sure how far we can go. We've been to Boston and Philly a bunch of times....as well as Amish country, and the shore.

Does anyone know of some out of the way places in the north east that are fun and inexpensive to visit?
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Washington D.C.

Find a cheap hotel a few miles out and you'll be fine.
Admission to the monuments and museums is FREE.

thumbs up!

If you get to go to the National Museum of the Native American, you'll have to post a full report.
I'm dying to go see it.

6 hours North of Boston is Bar Harbor, a beautiful, breath taking, tourist town. If you don't fall into the hype, hussel and bussel of the town you will find a beautiful spirit. Spend the day in a national park or just sitting by the seashore. Take a drive around Mount Desert Island and take in a little shopping. Have some fun by blowing the mind of people whom I use to work and live around. biggrin

how far are you from the coast? any coast? usually there are really affordable b&b's on small islands in the Great Lakes. find the port, hop the ferry, then go spend 3 or 4 days somewhere charming and bicyle around these islands. you can also rent little cottages, but unfortunately they usually only accept weekly rentals and not daily ones, also the prices are higher from memorial until labor day for high season. some do offer good discounts though if you're willing to make your vaction over weekdays rather than weekends...what state are u in (or want to go to)???

A W E S O M E amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio. GREAT rides including several that are ranked in the top 10 roller coasters of the world, including the # 1 and 3, i know for sure (one of the friends who went is a hardcore ride freak, he told us history, ranking, stats and all for each ride as we were in line).

From your place in NJ, it's about a 9 hour drive, pretty affordable, and well well worth it.

It would be way too obvious to tell you that you have to take the hershey highway to get there, so i won't. They have a new rollercoaster called the mustang. when we were there, it broke, just as the cars were on the hill going up. they were stuck for over an hour...but if you love chocolate, hershey parks the place for you!
