Wine Recommendations

I have been into checking out different wines for a long time. okay, okay I lied. I have only been into trying new wines since I saw that movie. you know that movie. yeah that movie.

anyway can y'all recommend some red wines for me to try? I was doing local wines for a few months (I am from maryland) and have a couple of faves. But I want to broaden my horizons.

Thanks in advance.

I hate to say it, but anything Australian these days is good, except for that Yellowtail shit (is that from Oz?); that's too sugary or somewhat.

Me and Iggy watched "that" movie too....and we got hooked on the Pinot Grigio...the best one we've had is Santa Margherita...an italian Pinot...very nice.....

....any other recommendations out there? I'm also trying to build a wine cellar....

I've never had an Oregon Pinot Noir that I didn't love, and Australia has indeed been putting out nice reds lately.

I like white wines too, particularly Rieslings from Germany and Washington State.

I'm going to recommend the wine maker Bogle. Their suprizingly wonderful wines, at incredable prices, makes this a wine for a regular wine drinker. I am really partial to their Pelite Sirah. I buy mine at "The World Market". It is a Calli wine.

Check out http://www.boglewinery.com for more info.

My wife would sudgest you try 7 Deadly Zins, oldVine zinfandel. That is a red wine, not to be confused with white zinfadel.

Check out http://www.lodivineyards.com for more info.

A suprizingly good table red wine that I just tryed this week for the first time is: Menage a trois from Folie a Deux. A "table wine" is a mixed medum of a few diffrent wine grapes. Sometimes, they can harness the best things about the diffrent winegrapes into a wonder table wine.

Check out http://www.folieadeux.com for more info.

If you liked those ask for more recommendations, because I could do this all day.

See what you did? I can't stop now!

If you were having a large party and needed a case worth of quality wine, I would sudgest you go with barefoot wine. Funny name, but a top quality, awarded winery, who's prices will not break anyone's bank.

Check Out: http://www.barefootwine.com/ for more info.

Look for 2000 Bordeaux wines. The cheapest ones (e.g., Mouton Cadet) are long gone, but the supermarket down the street has plenty of them in the $25-30 price range.

Alternatively, you might want to try some Bordeaux from 2002 as well. That year has turned out to be better than expected, and IMHO there are some excellent bargains to be found. For example, you should be able to get a bottle of 2002 Château Mouton Rothschild for about $150-200. (By contrast, a bottle from 2000 will cost you maybe $550-$750.) You'll want to cellar it for at least ten years -- maybe decades -- before opening the bottle, though. OTOH, the stuff that you'll find at the supermarket is ready to drink now.

Rosemount Estate Shiraz or Merlot is very good.

If I have a little extra to spend I go for Wyndham Estate's red wines, in particular the Bin 555 Shiraz.
