The Jason Mewes story ("Jay" of "Jay and Silent Bob")

http://silentbobspeaks.com/?p=235

I've been following Kevin Smith's recollection of his history with Jason Mewes in his blog, and I have to say that I have a new found respect for Kevin with everything he's gone through for Jason. It's a fairly long read and it's now into its 6th part going on 7, but for anyone out there who knows someone who has had problems with drugs, this is a great, sad story which will end up being a happy one since Jason has been clean 3 years to the day.

Kevin, if you're out there, bow

Jesus, that's a heartbreaking read. Smith is simply the Gen. X writer there is. Fuck you, Douglas Coupland.

that's like telling apples to fuck off because you like oranges so much. just because coupland wrote a book called 'generation x' doesn't mean he lays claim to the title. (and yeah, i'm writing this because i really like douglas coupland's writing...wanna make something of it? lol )

i like kevin smith too...but the two don't have a whole lot to do with each other, aside from being voices of the generation dubbed "generation x".

I'm a big askew fan and have forgotten to read Kevin's blog in a while.
I really feel for Jason and Kevin.. what a hard task for Kevin. I have nothing but respect for him.. Without Kevin, I"m sure Jason would have died to drugs.

I knew of his addiction, but I never knew the depth of length of it. It's a heartbreaking story, yes, but to see the bonds of friendship and love between those two...THAT's an inspiration. smile I love Kevin Smith.
