The 2005 Minneapolis Org Invasion Memories Thread! since i suppose those of you who made it up here over the weekend are probably kinna dead now because of all that we did, i'ma start up another "memories" thread...i think i started one last year, too. dayum. anyways, here's some of mine:
-- muse ate the last friggin take5 candy bar!!! -- meeting everyone just as they were stepping outta first ave. from the decemberists gig (seriously--i had just walked around the corner to the front doors, and the first face i saw was melissa's! ) -- the photo session on endo's front porch -- the "live banning" (i still can't believe that happened...) -- eating those nummy pizzas within about 15 minutes of 'em arriving and, of course: "*tchhk*--owooahhhhh!!!!!" onion-scented hoodie edit [Edited 10/24/05 11:34am]

I'm still planted on Darin's couch, with him and Chris and Andy and I laying around and watching the most ridiculous Star Wars holiday special thing, and thinking about how I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE!!!!
Memories to follow, but I just want to send hugs and kisses to those of you who have arrived or will shortly arrive home. I can't wait to see you again.

Ex-Moderator | Too drained and tired to say much of anything yet. Though I will say I wish last night would've worked out Saturday night. DJ Miss Paris is freaking amazing and is a real aweetheart to boot. I will be following her around now for a while. |

yeah--i got to meet her out at paisley last year during the mini-celebration, plus i corresponded with her whenever she had princey functions going on at first ave. (when i was still a mod i'd help her with the advertisements she'd put here for the parties)...she's awesome.

As I just noted on the foto thread, it is over. The last folks are at the airport now. I am wrecked and about to slip into a coma. I'll be back when I have my wits about me again to post more thoughts.
to all the beautiful people who made this such a damn perfect weekend

If the NYC Invasion is going to be this nerdy, I suggest we just call it off.

wow. well, i just got in and i can see Muse has livened up the place with her extra special odor...erm, i mean, charm, ahem... ...and everyone's starting to chime in with reflections of the weekend. nice.
welp, it's awful late and i SHOULD be in bed, but i'm still wired (and probably still polluted) from the weekend...my head's spinning from lots and lots of dancing and whooping and eating amazing food and laughing and laughing and laughing and seeing people i missed terribly (and do again), and meeting new people who i absolutely adore and hope to keep in touch with and see again soon. and did i mention we laughed a lot? thank you SO much to endorphin74, mr. denton and mr. andy for shacking my cracktacular self up this weekend, and i am SO sorry you had to be exposed to the star wars holiday special but i hope with a little therapy you'll be right as rain and not suffer flashbacks of itchy, lumpy and mala. i have much more to say, but i gotta haul it to bed. love you all. miss you all already (i ESPECIALLY miss Muse...but my aim is improving!)

Ok. . .typed this on the airplane (side note: Northwest Airlines sucks ass) for lack of anything better to do, and while stuff is fresh in my mind.
It's pretty gushy, but hey. . . I don't think that telling people how highly you think of them is really the time in life that you want to hold back. Random memories/thoughts in random order: - All of the fun at First Ave. The Decemberists show was great, the house action upstairs the next night was fantastic, and the house action at the 7th St. entry the night after that was even fucking better. Whee! - Quiet talk time digging into the good stuff with neat people is always my favorite thing. Got a little more of that this year, with just about everybody. Loved all of the hanging out and blabbing. - Meeting David. Not being in P&R at all in recent memory, I had no preconceptions, which I have since realized is probably a good thing ( ), and he is a delight to talk to. . . and, as I believe Ivy mentioned, HAWT. . . only regret being, we pretty much only got to talk at noisy/busy places. Next time. And thanks again for trying to hunt me down after I left the Saloon, hon. . . it was sweet. - A really recent one was my little airport time with Anxiety, henceforth referred to as Christopher. I barely got to talk to him last year, but I've paid more attention to his posts since then, and have come to realize that he is brilliant and hilarious. I know, I'm slow. Anyway. Wonderful to have more time with him this year, and I got a little bonus time when he ended up taking a later flight and we had time to talk at the airport. Huge pleasure, great end to my time there. I think the world of you, sweetie. . . thanks for sharing. I think I wasn't being as much of a good listener as I like to be, but. . . it's just that it seems like there's a lot to be exchanged between us. To be continued. . . - Meeting Madartista (henceforth referred to as Chris). Oh, boy. I knew I was going to like him, but. . . it was one of those *click* things where I felt like I had known him for all of time. Plus, he gives beautiful hugs. I know I'll see you again. - Karen and her vegan cow rescue operation. It would be hard to explain how we got from discussion of the phrase "queer as a cat fart" to the requirement that all vegans permit cows to live in their homes, but. . . lesseee. . .in summary, Karen is insane. Show up at my apartment with a cow and I'll shove you down the stairs, ya crazy bitch. I completely lost it when I had to say goodbye to her this time. . . we're talking sobbing here. . . getting misty thinking about it. . . because she is so kind and giving with me, basically. - Darin in all of his gorgeous sensitive splendor recognizing (despite his supreme exhaustion and drunken-ness ) that I needed a lullabye to get to sleep after Karen left and laying down with me and showing me Sigur Ros videos. Those of you who haven't met this man. . . you're missing out on one of the most deep-down sweet people in existence. - Darin's lovely partner Denny and cutiepie roommate Andy. Always willing photographers, partners in crime, and tolerant of our insanity. . . these things wouldn't be the same without you. And you people should hear Denny doing drunken Salt and Peppa. Really good stuff. - Gretchen, Official Invasion T-Shirt Goddess. I can generally take or leave children, but I think pregnant women are sooo adorable. - Shawna! Love ya, girl. I can't believe how little time we got together considering I was staying at your house! Thanks for making me feel welcome in your lovely home. - Oh, Carrie. We need to give up on getting our quality time at invasions and get together sometime when we can have our mutually necessary quiet interludes. I so enjoyed your company, and you may be the cutest drunk EVER. Which is saying a whole hell of a lot considering the drunken cuteness of Darin and Denny. - Famdom! We fammed out this year! Last year, Prince hardly came up. This year, we watched concert DVDs, listened to his music, talked about his life and peculiarities. . . fuckin' fams, every one of us (Karen, you just really aren't fooling anybody). -Karen in her extra-special fammy moment, showing up at Carrie's place in a Prince t-shirt and polkadot pajama pants a la Lovesexy era. . . yeah. Famtastic. - The Star Wars holiday thingie. . . what the fucking fuck?! - Have you noticed "drunken" coming up a lot? Yeah. . . um. . . yeah. Those chocolate cake shots were only ok, y'all make sure and try them again sometime. - Meet-and-greet at the Independent. Very fun, laid-back event. Was great to meet Jillybean. . . great to see Hobbes LeFreakin'Adorable and once again disappointing that I didn't get to talk with him more. . . got to lay eyes on PP4 again, which is always a pleasure. . . just everybody. It was great. - Dansa, woman, you just keep getting more fabulous every second. I can tell life in your skin is a bit more comfortable these days. I hope I'll know you for a really, really long time. And I hope at some point in that time that I'll get a chance to sit down with you and talk deep shit. - All of the fabulous food. Damn. Somebody else want to go into detail? Special thanks for the hungover cooking action, I know it was tough. And the cauliflower. . . sweet geezus, the cauliflower. . . glazed in crack, I know it was. . . I don't even really LIKE cauliflower, did I ever mention that? - Peaches! Brilliant suggestion, Christopher. You don't know fun until you've danced to "I, U, She" with Carrie and Christopher in your socks in Darin's living room. I remember asking them if they thought it was possible to fall in love with a moment. They were too toasted to answer, but that's ok, it was a rhetorical question. - Seeing the sculpture garden with Ivy's commentary. That was SO MUCH FUN, woman I just love being around you. And you were crackin' my shit up. . . under the cherry spoon. "Those are brain cells I'll never get back." - The way that it felt like we were all just picking up where we left off. . . there is something strangely beautiful (yeah, yeah) about being so completely comfortable with people I've spent so little time with. I can't really explain it, except to say that the org is a special place. If I come back as a regular someday, it'll be because of my experiences during a couple of October weekends in Minneapolis. Gotta pull out the mix cd from last year. . . "I'm gonna miss Minneapolis. . ." I'm forgetting a million little things. . . but hey, the only people who could care are the ones who were there and know anyway, so. . . I love you people, and I will miss you until next time.
