Nice avie. You can retract your bid. There should be a link on the page. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

I don't need hardcore fettish porn as long as I have you Darling. No More Haters on the Internet.

All they can do is give you a bad mark against you. MANY sellers won't sell to those that have this kind of marking against them.

You can't change your mind legally. You could (probably wouldn't) but could be sued for this.
Also, you are costing the seller money and time. People who back out of auctions are scum. They tell you straight up as you bid there is no backing out.

Well, if the auction ends and then u don't pay 7 days after listing end the seller will file a non-paying bidder reminder to get their fees back. If you haven't paid after 7 more days you'll get a strike against your account. 3 of these usually means suspension. There's also something built in to the sellers preferences where they can choose not to sell to buyers who've had 2 such strikes recently.

on an added note, who here has sold things on eBay? I tried once but it was all difficult. how much do you have to pay eBay? is there a fee, up front? or do they just take the money out of your earnings once you sell the item, like half.com does? I bought a hat there a few months ago and want to sell it. Never worn... but I'm nervous. I mean, like, where is the sun?

In fact, I have three sticks of PC133 SDRAM and a CD-RW drive on there right now! There's a listing fee. The lower your starting bid, the lower the fee. There's a bunch of extras that you can get to make your auction stand out more, but I never use them. They do take a percentage of the final bid, but I can't remember what those figures are at the moment. You pay them whenever after the auction. I just use my winnings and pay via PayPal once they send me an e-mail stating I owe however much. All in all, not too bad of a deal.

Final value fee is 5.25% of the final selling price (not inc. shipping). Best bet then is to tend to keep the price lower, therefore, and the shipping on the high side. Do it too much though and Ebay will 'ave yer! Still, it can work a charm. Of course, Paypal will then take 3.4% + 30 cents from the total amount including shipping and there's not much you can do about that.

Best thing I ever saw done to screw the system was a guy that was selling a video card with a penny opening bid but $200 shipping. The guy explained in his auction that in order to screw eBay out of their percentage, his shipping cost was actually to be figured into the amount because eBay doesn't include shipping charges in their percentage cut. No wonder people are going crazy on high shipping charges on so many auctions! PayPal isn't taking any cuts from my auctions. I'm on the free plan.

They do pull listings like that if they're aware of them though. Not that they bother or wish to be aware of much that goes on unless someone points it out.
