This is stupid.

So I get into work today, get the mail, get my coffee, sit down to do a good days work and I see this 3 word email in resopnse to a process I had sent out to a small team I facilitate. This process was my doing with guidance from my boss. I said at the end of my email what they thought regarding my process and the only response I got was

This is stupid.

That's it. Nothing else to go on. No indicators about what part was stupid or anything. It was sent to me only and not to the rest of the team. You know it's little frickin emails like that that can just get your day started int he wrong way. I decided not to fire back a similar response like "Thanks for your insightful comment, I'll implement your changes into the process" or something like that and just shot it off to my boss who handled it.

So here we are 3 hours later...the matter is slightly resolved...but just a small 3 word email, that certainly could have been worded better in so many ways. Such a waste of time and energy.

Now THAT'S stupid.

Ah yes, I can empathise. I just love it when I get great feedback like We don't want to do it like that or They said no or indeed This is stupid, or just as frustrating: Looks good, do it when you've sent a choice of proposals and are clearly looking for them to choose one.

It's at times like these that the phrase Go fuck yourself up the arse with a big stick (or similar) comes to mind. Fortunately for my future career prospects I normally manage to stop myself from actually saying (or sending) it.

The sad thing is, there is no suitable response to these annoying dismissive replies to your hard work. I usually march up to the culprit (when possible) and ask for a proper response, on the basis that they haven't quite worked out the difference between phone text and email, and that the only way to extract the information I need from them is by face to face communication .
