Looks like maybe George wrote this one in a whole week and not just a weekend like the first two prequels.

biggrin

The prequels could have been truely great flicks if it weren't for the embarrassingly bad dialog. And that Anakin was like 8 years old. Silly.

Exactly.

I can understand there needing to be lots of exposition, but they could've been so much more.

Oh well-looks like this one might be surprising.

I agree to a point. Its only because we were kids when the original trilogy debuted that we don't notice the embarrassingly bad dialogue of those films. At the time, adults noticed it, but assumed that it was part of George's whole obsession with the old Saturday serials. I still think this is a component of these flicks (i.e. the over-the-top dialogue is intentional).

What I DON'T think is intentional is the crappy acting on the part of the Anakins .Lloyd was atrocious (I wanted to slap the little moppet every time he said "wizard"), and Hayden's acting is about as wooden as they come. The one hope I have for Hayden in this flick is the fact that Anakin is going bad in it. All the scenes in Episode II where Anakin was acting evil were the only ones where I thought Hayden was any good. In all fairness, neither one is as bad as coked-up Carrie Fisher in ROTJ. Seriously, watch her performance in that film! Its absolutely gawd-awful! She was so fried during that filming its ridiculous.

Personally, I like the prequels. They aren't as good as the Original Trilogy, but I really didn't expect them to be. Episode I is pretty darned slow, but the duel with Maul is pretty cool (if a bit too short). Episode II is pretty solid, with the exception of the romance between Amidala and Anakin (and that's really the fault of the actors and their utter lack of chemistry). Heck, the Yoda vs. Dooku battle was worth the price of admission alone.

Episode III appears to be all the things we've been waiting for. The other two were, essentially, just exposition. The fall of Anakin and the rise of Vader are what we've wanted to see ever since we first heard about the idea of a prequel trilogy (back when Empire first hit theaters).
