So what's the best PhotoShop??

i'm looking to get PhotoShop. What is the best version of PhotoShop, or best brand of a similar product? i'm really kind of clueless as to what is best, so i'd appreciate all your help.

thanks!!

Photoshop seems to be the package of choice. I think version 8 is the latest. If you're going to buy it, get that. .tnerrot tib esu dluoc uoy rO whistling

Try out Ulead PhotoImpact. http://www.download.com/U...61636.html

Photoshop might be a bit of overkill for most first time users, but if you want to try it out you can check out the trial version.

First off you need a mac in order to do proper Photoshop work.

The latest version, a newly released upgrade to Adobe Photoshop 7, can be found here:

http://www.adobe.com/prod.../main.html

Now if you have a doody, uh... I mean PC. May God have mercy on your soul.

ok, so i can't afford the latest and greatest PhotoShop. i'm basically interested in doing stuff to pictures (like we've seen byron and others do), doing stuff to videos and sound doesn't really interest me.

on amazon.com i can get adobe photoshop elements 2.0 for $5 used, or i could get photoshop 6.0 used for $47.99. what would you guys recommend for me? would one of these be ok?

I don't know. Are you on a mac or a piece of doody ?

If you don't have the money to invest... you can always d/l.

shhh I wont tell.

P.S. If you are on a PC... then get the one compatible with your operating system.

Photoshop CS is the newest version of Photoshop. There's also Photoshop Elements, which is basically a stripped down cheaper version.

If you are in school right now, or have a friend who is, you can get major discounts on Photoshop, and probabbly pick up Photoshop CS at a student discount for the same price you would pay for Photoshop Elements retail.

There are some other similar cheaper programs like Ulead PhotoImpact and Jasc Paint Shop Pro, but I was never crazy about them because I don't like the interface.

Most people don't pay for Photoshop, lol. In fact, it's steep price tag is usually the rite of passage that sends people into the wonderful world of Warez.

mac is a MAC... you're on a PC. You will need to find a version compatible with that operating system for sure.

If you put an old version or one it doesn't like, it will cause problems.

Here are a couple of sites that might be helpful:

If I was you fantasy, I would try to pick up Photoshop rather than any other graphics editing software. Like Tom said Photoshop CS is the latest version but it's expensive. Photoshop 7 Is the version prior to C.S, but if you cant get that then I would buy 6. Version 6 is fine for what you want to do.

I don't think you'll wanna buy Photoshop once you see what it costs...
And to anyone not familiar with bit torrent or eMule and the eDonkey network, do a search you won't regret it... It has everything you need... (unless you use a crappy dial-up/56k network)

Photoshop is exspesive i know i purchased it wacky photshop elements is ok, you can download brushes etc to add onto, its a ok program to learn on but i prefere photoshop. You can get photoshop elements for approx £30.Why not purchase a computer magazine with the free 30 days license (or download it from the website) to see if you like before you buy. Becareful with older versions of photoshop as if you wish to download brushes etc they may not work.

In my opinion, PhotoShop is kind of confusing for those who aren't familiar with it (it was for me when I started and I had someone to teach me) and it's hard to start using it right away unless you are already familiar with other Adobe programs.
I had another program at work that's more user-friendly. It's called Adobe PhotoDeluxe and it takes you through each step of editing photos, etc...so you're not left with a bunch of buttons that make no sense to you lol

It's out-of-print now, but that just makes it less expensive smile
