It's a compulsory, annual vehicle check to make sure your car is safe to drive, that us UK people have to get done...

It's also a licence for garages to print money. pout

ANY car can crash, regardless of whether its had an MOT test or not!!!! A brand new car straight from the production line can fail on someone!! Anyway, it all depends on HOW a car is driven!! And my husband who is an American, says that UK drivers are the worse in the world!!! That is one reason why he wont drive over here and I am the main driver in the family!!! They have no regard for other drivers, they are arrogant and think they own the whole road!!! They think they are the only ones who are supposed 2 b on the road and sod everyone else!!! They show no common curtesey, they disregard most of the rules, they dont even know what lanes they are supposed 2 b on for what turnings!!!! I have had many a close call because of stupid incompetent drivers!!!! sad sad sad

PEACE4ALL

I live in a state that still requires car inspections.
They call it "DEQ" here = for Dept of Quality. We have to have it done every two years in order to keep our cars on the road and licensed. It is a HUGE pain in the ass and costs about $50.00 every two years on top of licensing fees. I think it is a huge rip-off, from what I understand the states that do not require this have a state sales tax, just another way to get our money
CAUTION: EMBALMER HARD AT WORK HERE

We have to get a "Road Worthy" slip each year. The local mechanic does it and it cost about $20. They check everything that should be working and that the tires are good too.
