Hi y'all & mods

Ok, here we go. I have a major problem with the choice of news selected for the front page. The org is supposed to be the most popular/resourceful forum online when it comes to Prince. Back in 2007 i had complained that none of the new, previously unreleased videos & songs that were streamed on 3121.com were featured in the news (because of this i missed many of them, which i otherwisely could have been able to record) and when i posted here i was told: "sorry, the news must be submitted by orgmembers and that's probably why we miss it all, because no one lets us mods know". I said ok, fair enough.

So ever since, i'm being very careful to track down every new Prince release/streaming in case they wouldn't be announced in the news, but i think that it's likely that not every one does. So when something isn't featured in the news, i submit it to the mods.

This year, as far as released/broadcasted material, we had this:

Prince - Vikings.com audio streaming (01/21)

I signaled both releases in bold to the mods but there was no reaction to it and most fans still ignore these releases to this day

On the other hand, no offense (really), but we get loads of gossip crap such as:

- Prince pays up $1.3M in taxes owed to Carver CountyAnother bill paid!! Is Prince catching up with his bills? Could be .........

- Prince Settles Lawyer CaseLooks like Prince has managed to head off legal action and has settled his bill. See link within for details.

- Prince is getting dragged into court by high powered attorney Ed McPhersonOhhh ohhhhh not another law suit !! More trouble for Prince??

And God knows how many others like this (such as Ke$ha's story about intruding at P's house and so on...).

Honestly, who cares? I mean maybe some people care, but who cares more about this than about 2 unreleased versions of the Rosie Gaines tracks and a new composition given to Sheila E. being released?

So i just don't get the logic. Prince releases new material. isn't this site precisely about Prince's music 1st and 4most? I'm quite sure that hundreds of Orgers have no clue about the Rosie and Sheila releases because not everyone has the time to roam on the site's forum everyday in search for precious information hidden somewhere, you know

So i was told: "news have to be signaled to the mods" and this i did and i could have done nothing and it'd have been the same

Please mods take no offense, i'm just trying to make a point about what should the priority be when it comes to the front page's news. I think music should be a priority. I think that if any detail about Prince's taxes is to be on the frontpage, new releases should all be featured as well as as soon as possible. One might even think that the purpose here is to lessen the musical aspect in favor of the gossip aspect, as part of a campaign against Prince because of the way he used to harass this website for no reason. I'm sure it's not the case, but still, i'm wondering...

Just my opinion, though. Maybe i'm wrong. Maybe new music isn't important enough to be signaled.

I see your report for the Sheila E song. I'll feature it.

We don't always feature associated artist's work on the home page. But sometimes we do.

As for the rest - there's no agenda about not featuring music and only featuring "gossip". I'd hazard to say it's cause the mods aren't very active these days, myself included. Even some of the gossip threads on the front page were old news by the time they were featured.

I was just writing a post regarding adding the concert dates as well, when I realised that they've now been posted!

Sometimes it's quiet and then boom! a flurry of Prince news. I do my best to get any Prince news put on the front page asap.

There are some orgers that actually go looking for or stumble across some news and it's muchly appreciated.

Mostly if I see a concert or tour or positive new event,

I like to report/recommend the news event because it makes the mods a bit easier than having to look through all the forums and makes the front page look better.

As for the bad news, I just overlook them and let someone else do it.
